Don't Knock the Door
Horror Ghost Story
The old abandoned house on the edge of town had always been the subject of rumors and legends. People whispered that it was haunted, that strange noises could be heard coming from within its walls, and that the spirits of the dead still roamed its halls.
But despite these warnings, there was one man who was determined to find out the truth.
His name was William, and he was a journalist with a passion for uncovering the hidden stories of the world. He had heard of the abandoned house and was intrigued by its mysterious reputation, so he set out to investigate.
William arrived at the house just as the sun was setting. The building was old and crumbling, with ivy growing up its walls and cobwebs hanging from the windows. But despite its appearance, William felt a strange sense of excitement as he approached the door.
He pushed open the door, and was immediately struck by the musty smell that filled the air. The house was dark, with only the faint light from the setting sun filtering in through the broken windows. He stepped inside, and was greeted by a long, narrow hallway that led to a large room at the end.
As he made his way down the hall, William felt a chill run down his spine. The walls seemed to be closing in on him, and he had the strange feeling that he was being watched. Suddenly, he heard a loud knock at the door.
He stopped in his tracks, his heart racing. Who could be knocking at the door of this abandoned house?
He approached the door cautiously, and as he reached out to open it, he heard a voice whisper, "Don't knock the door."
William hesitated for a moment, but then pushed the door open. To his horror, he found himself face to face with a ghostly figure.
The ghost was tall and thin, with a pale face and glowing eyes. It reached out its hand, pointing at William and repeating the words, "Don't knock the door."
William felt a scream rising in his throat, but before he could make a sound, the ghost vanished into thin air.
He stumbled back, his heart pounding in his chest. He was about to turn and run, when he heard a voice whisper in his ear, "You should have listened."
He spun around, but there was no one there. William was filled with terror, but he refused to let it defeat him. He was determined to uncover the truth about this haunted house, and he would not be deterred by a ghostly warning.
He made his way down the hall, and finally entered the large room at the end. To his surprise, he found himself standing in front of a large wooden door.
He reached out to open it, but before his hand could touch the handle, he heard the ghostly voice once again.
"Don't knock the door," it whispered.
William hesitated, but then steeled himself and pushed open the door. What he found inside was a nightmare beyond anything he could have imagined.
The room was filled with the spirits of the dead, all of them pointing and laughing at him. He tried to turn and run, but his feet would not move. He was trapped, and he knew that he was going to die.
As he stood there, paralyzed with fear, the ghostly figure appeared once again. This time, it was not pointing and laughing, but instead it reached out its hand to him.
"You should have listened," it whispered.
And then everything went black. When William awoke, he was back outside the abandoned house. He was lying on the ground, his body shivering with fear.
He looked up at the house and saw that it was now in ruins, the walls collapsing and the roof caving in. He realized that he had been gone for many hours, and he couldn't remember anything that had happened after he entered the door.
William's encounter with the ghostly figure haunted him for the rest of his life. He never spoke of it to anyone, but the experience left a deep scar on his soul.
He became obsessed with uncovering the truth about the haunted house, and he spent the rest of his days researching its history and trying to understand what had happened to him.
Years later, William passed away, leaving behind a legacy of mystery and terror. And to this day, the abandoned house on the edge of town remains one of the most haunted places in the world, a warning to all who would dare to enter its doors.
The legend says that if you ever hear a ghostly voice whisper, "Don't knock the door," you should turn and run, for if you don't, you may never return.
However, despite the warnings and the tales of terror, there are still those who dare to approach the house. They come in search of thrills, or in the hopes of solving the mystery once and for all.
But they all make the same mistake: they ignore the ghostly voice and they knock on the door.
And that is when the terror begins. For once you enter the house, you are never the same again. The spirits of the dead haunt your dreams, and the ghostly figure follows you wherever you go.
Some say that if you are lucky, you may escape with your life, but the price of your ignorance will be a lifetime of fear and regret.
So heed the warning, and never forget the words of the ghostly voice: "Don't knock the door."
For if you do, you may never return to the world of the living.
