Don't Breathe was released in 2016. The plot focused on a break in, except the victims of the movie are the ones doing the breaking in. This movie was well-liked and it was enjoyed by the public. The money that was made from this was more than enough to make sure that there would be a sequel, at some point.

Just recently, the sequel's official trailer was dropped.

There was an expectation that this movie would follow a similar pattern to the first one. Someone breaking in, facing a difficult foe. However, the trailer reveals what seems like a former villain turning into

This isn't a situation where the fanbase just like the characters, even though they are objectively terrible people like the Firefly Trilogy by Rob Zombie. This is almost starting to undo one of the major plot points of the original movie.

So there will be spoilers discussed further on.

In Don't Breathe, the villain is a blind army veteran named Nordstrom. He lost his daughter a few years ago and has been living in solitude with his dog. The area around him has totally moved on, but he remains.

The main characters are a group of thieves that have discovered that this guy has some hidden treasure. They decide to break in. They think it's going to be even easier after they realize he is blind. But he is not just a lonely old man with no one in his life. He's an army veteran that never got out of shape. And he's sharp, despite his blindness. He ends up killing one of them immediately.

Rocky, portrayed by Jane Levy, ends up being the only survivor. Although Clay from 13 Reasons Why does give his best shot, he isn't successful in surviving.

The major plot twist of Don't Breathe is that the old man is much more dangerous than initially believed. He's not a good person, even compared to three theives that broke into a blind veteran's house.

Nordstrom's daughter died and he kidnapped the woman that killed her, insemenating her with his sperm (fertility abuse, but not rape as he uses a literal turkey baster). He was holding her hostage until she gave birth to his new child. In the mess of everything

For most people finding out that Nordstrom was going to be the star was a strange shift from the last movie. Especially to those that were disturbed by the fertility abuse aspect of his character.

In the trailer, it seems as though Nordstrom is in the possession of a daughter figure. This is potentially going to fix the major character flaw that was in the previous. There are scenes showing how close they are and how she looks to him as a father figure.

Then this new child ends up being taken by someone. It does sound a lot like a rehash of Taken. Only, with a rehabilitated villain chasing them down instead of a worried father. I will say that he does have some interesting skill sets.

The problem rises with him no longer hunting in his own home. It made sense that he knew everything about a place when it was where he lived. Things become more complicated when one is chasing after a group of strangers in an unknown area.

For now, all we can do is wait to see how this is going to play out. I have hopes that

Don't Breathe 2 will be released on August 13th.

The hopes for the sequel is that there will be some call back to the previous movie. Don't entirely ignore one of the major plot point, and if it is a child that he fathered without consent, I want that to be addressed. I'm curious to see how his blindness is addressed considering the more unfamiliar area.
