Frozen Bigfoot

A rare bigfoot discovery happened in Atlanta, Georgia, on 19 August 2008. This discovery was one that made many prick their ears up to. Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer, self-proclaimed Bigfoot trackers, claimed they discovered the corpse of a real half-human half-ape creature. Many were ready to write it off as another phony sighting or a hoax until the two publicly said they had it stored in a freezer, released detailed and up-close pictures of it, and even agreed to let anyone perform a test on the corpse that wanted to. This made many believe in the possibility a real sasquatch was found.

However, as anyone could have guessed, it turned out to be a stuffed Halloween costume, coated in animal blood, that was carefully placed in the freezer. It also came out the two were working with Tom Biscardi; he was a man that was infamous for staging hoaxes and Bigfoot sighting. When Whitton and Dyer admitted to the fake capture, Biscardi tried to shift all blame to them, claiming he was also tricked by them.

In the end, it was just another fake sighting, but one that gained attention by their willingness to prove it by allowing tests and samples, and their attention to detail, making many think a real Sasquatch might have been found.

The Altamaha-ha Monster

Located in Darien, Georgia, a monster similar to the Loch Ness Monster is said to live there. It's reported to be a thirty foot long marine animal with flippers like a seel. It inhabits the multiple river channels and marshes in the Darien waters and Butler Island. The land was abandoned in the 18th and 19th centuries and was then inhabited by Scottish settlers. Along with these settlers, also came the first sighting in 1981.

The discovery was made by a former newspaper publisher, Larry Gwin, who was fishing with his friend, Steve Wilson. They reported that as it swam past them, they saw two humps five feet apart and it left behind a wave as if from a speedboat. Legends also came from an old Muskogee Creek Tribe that spoke of a similar creature they called the Altamaha-ha, where the name came from. They described it as an alligator-like beast, 20 to 30 feet long, grey or green in color with large front flippers, an armored back, and a full set of sharp teeth. They knew it as an aggressive creature, so they kept their distance from its waters.

While many sightings have been recorded, and more still to this day, no photo evidence has been revealed. Many that travel in hopes of seeing, but claim it's nothing more than logs with vegetation.

Crybaby Bridge

On Whitesville Road, in the city of Columbus, Georgia, lays a bridge said to be haunted by a mother and her child. Legend says that a farmer and his wife were expecting their fifth child. However, they could no afford another child and the farmer grew anxious as the months passed. As his wife went into labor, the farmer made a deal with the delivery doctor - he was to tell his wife that her child died in labor, and dispose of the baby in return for a bribe. Once it was over, the doctor placed the baby in a bag and took it to a nearby bridge, where he threw it to its death. When the mother eventually learned the truth of this, she threw herself off the same bridge and died. It's often said that around this particular bridge at night, you can hear the crying of a baby and the wails of the mother's spirit, endlessly searching for her child.
