"Take it easy man". "You too buddy". David waved his friend goodbye. The trunk to David's car groaned as he opened it and put his guitar in. As he put his hand on the trunk to close it he finally relized the green light. He looked up at the moon to see it still there hanging in the sky. It didnt look much different from what it had always looked like except for one major difference. The giant green light that has been emanating from the moon's surface for the last ten years. When man finally went back to the moon it was a race to mine materials and precious metals. "Crazy", David said aloud, "who would've thought after all this time we were all wrong". Everything looked green now. At night it was like a giant green light filter was draped over the world. David got in his car and started it. The gig was over and was time to head home. It was these moments he hated though. The crowd was gone, no one was yelling for another song to be sung, no alcohol to quiet the memories or weed to help him not care. Here he would always remember his brother and why the moon "turned" green.

Andy used to gig with me. Quite possibly the best drummer in the area we lived in. Andy always set himself apart. Creative chops and impressive accurate licks. Andy was crazy to watch let alone play with. However, Andy started having kids early and music took a back seat to a trade so he could make money for his growing family. I was upset and dumb and lost touch with my brother for 7 years. We saw each other again at our fathers 65th birthday celebration and he announced that he landed a government job on the moon doing electrical systems for the base that was being built there. A good high paying job and in space! I was equal parts impressed and jealous that my brother had done so well for himself and his family. I had a steady gig playing in clubs and in studio's but nothing like the money my brother had been making since he quit doing music to persue a career in electricity. After 2 years of preparation my brother was on the Endeavor Space Shuttle. The largest civilian spacecraft to date to take over 80 tradesmen and women into space to work on Luna Base. After a few months my brother began emailing me. He told me to pay attention to the news and television. That something crazy and exciting was going to be released to the public. True to his word after 6 months it was revealed that an ancient temple system was found at the border of the Dark Side of the Moon. The "Moon Palaces" were a historical marvel. A game changer. Human History was turned on it's head. My brother emailed me and told me he and a team were assigned to get light to the temple structures so they could be explored. He was excited and couldn't wait to tell me what he could about them. It would be the last time I would ever hear from him again. The events that happened on June 17th 2037, are still muddied up but, a worker blew the whistle on events that make the truth stranger than fiction.

My brother was part of 2 teams. They were going to the largest structure in the center of the temple ruins. As they were setting temporary lighting a large green face of a man was found in a large room. The face glowed dimly and gave off a strange energy that actually began to interact with the lights. The more lights that were put around the face the brighter it glowed and the brighter the lights became. It appeared that the Head was part of a much larger structure and the were wanting to see if there was a power source. After several days and descending a several hundred feet below the moon's surface a mechanism was found with several green orb around it. Here's where things get murky. No one knows who or how it happened exactly but, someone put an orb inside the mechanism at the foot of the strutcture. The structrure immediately began to awaken. Energy spikes were recorded. Exactly 13 minutes later the Head turned skyward opened it's mouth and let out a giant green beam from it's mouth. However, when the beam first shout out it let out a wave of energy that destroyed all biological life in 40 mile radius. My brother, the workers, the scientists, everyone was intantly turned to ash. The energy beam is aimed at a star in the Orion constellation. To this day we still do not know what the beam is or why it's aimed at the star it's aimed at. All that is known is that the beam will probably never stop until that core runs out of power but no one has been able to enter the "Moon Palaces" since the structure was activated. The energy coming off the beam is so intense that it kills anything organic that gets too close and all machinery overloads in seconds. We may never know more about the "Moon Palaces". We may never know what the secrets they hold or how they are connected to humanity.

Just then David realizes he's home. He pops his trunk and opens his door. "I need a drink" David groans as he gets out of his car. "Hey David!", David turns to see his neighbor. "Hey Selena. How are you?" "I'm good I just put the kids to sleep." "That was tough I bet." "It wasn't easy but they went down." David smiled. Selena was a single mom in her 40's and the only one of his neighbors he actually got along with. She was also a conniseur of 80's thrash metal. "Wanna drink?" Selena smiled, "Does Pinnochio have wooden balls man?" David laughs as he goes inside his apartment to pour some whiskey for him and his friend. "At least I can take my mind of you Andy", David thinks. When David goes outside Selena already has two chairs and an ash tray out. She passes a joint to David and he passes Selena her drink. "Have you ever hated something thats kinda stupid hate?" David blurted out after his first drag of the joint. Almost spitting her drink out Selena half laughing asks "You stoned already? Your gig was that tough on you? I thought you could han--" Selena stopped mid sentance. He looked at her ready to tell her how he's come to hate the color green but, when David looks at her Selena isn't looking at him. She's looking at the sky. Her eyes are glowing green. When he looks into the sky he sees a giant ship filling the sky hovering over the green flame of the moon. Humanity will never be the same indeed.
