It's crazy.

We all know about Annabelle and Chucky but is there a true story behind these movies? There are people who believe that they can transfer their spirit into an object at any time, dead or alive. It is actually more common that spirits can haunt an object than possess it. I believe that is what happened in the case of Annabelle the doll. It is also common for objects to be cursed.

Back in the day of old school pirates it was believed that certain crews or boats were cursed. They also believed that certain objects like treasure chest can be cursed.

So how does an object become haunted or cursed? With being cursed a lot of times it's Ouija board session gone wrong. When a session goes wrong spirits can attach itself to a person or an object. It also can be someone who actually put a curse on something for whatever reason. There are some objects that are cursed or haunted and famous.

The hope diamond is one example of famous and cursed. It came to the surface 1.1 billion years ago and is estimated to be worth $200-250 million. It is now in the Smithsonian Natural History Museum and is to bring misery and misfortune will come to whoever wears it. Some of the misfortune that was said to happen to people who wore it includes disgrace, divorce, suicide, imprisonment, torture, financial ruin, lynching, decapitation, and being ripped apart by dogs. Another person was ripped apart by a French mob. Some people say that the curse is to drive up the worth and mystery.

This one is a weird mystery, the cursed painting of the crying boy. The original or one of the originals is in England and is said to cause fires in buildings that it is placed in. In all of the cases the painting was fine. There is actually a video of people trying to burn it and only one corner was bunt.

One cursed object or place I remember learning about in school is Tut's tomb. Tut was a 19 year old pharaoh and his resting place is said to cause all who enter to suffer from either bad luck, illness or death. The first to die was a bird who lead Carter to the tomb. Carter was someone who lead an expedition into the tomb in 1922. Critics say it's either coincidence or fungus in the tomb that is to blame.

James Dean's Porche 550 Spyder was said to be cursed after his car wreck in 1955 which killed James. The story continued to grow after it was bought for parts and crushed the leg of a mechanic who was working on it. As the parts were bought and sold the curse spread. A lot of the injuries or deaths that were linked to the car or it's parts had to do with accidents.

The mirror of Myrtle's plantation is one of the most haunted or cursed objects in the plantation. It is said be haunted by the spirits of Sara Woodruff and her children who were poisoned to death on the property by a slave. Now how they got stuck was interesting tradition says that if someone dies or is dying you have to cover all mirrors so that the spirit doesn't get lost, confused or stuck. When Sara and her kids died all but one mirror got covered so of course the spirits went into the mirror. The house is now a bed and breakfast so guests report seeing figures in the mirror and seeing kid sized prints on the glass.

These are just the tip of the iceberg, there are so many out there. It's so fascinating.
