Hey Ghoul Lovers!

When we talk about horror and Paranormal, we definitely get intrigued by the origins of the story or how Urban Legends came about like simply asking yourself "Who is the Bunny Man actually?". Be it "Grandmothers' tale" or just stories to scare children to sleep. What if i tell you, Urban Legends in Asia are still relevant to the current generation? Trust me, growing up, the influences of superstitions had always been brought down by my previous generations and i'm sure it follows till the end.

For today, We shall head to a country in Asia, Known as the 'Land of Smiles' a.k.a Thailand.

1. Mae Nak- Known as a Female ghost names Nak from the state of Phra Khanong. with the undying love for her husband Mae Nak would do anything for him till death! Her husband was conscripted and sent to war and how did she died? During Childbirth. Yes! But that isn't the end of the story. As it is said, her undying love for Mak (her husband) stayed even in the afterlife, Nak returned from the dead to fulfill her duties for the husband who had returned from war. However villagers who knew about her death had warned her husband about the truth. This had filled Nak with raged for interfering her family. She haunts each of the villagers who to her was trying to 'wreck' her family. the remaining surviving villagers seek out help from the great Monk from Bangkok to help Nak rest in peace. like for real, 'girl gotta learn to let go'. With the ritual successfully completed, Nak was again laid to rest with her soul concealed to the 'other world' where she no longer will be able to haunt the living anymore. Her husband then became a Monk in hopes that their good Karma will allow them to re-unite again as husband and wife in the after life.

Now, there are few other versions of this legend, But whatever it is, Thais and most asians still hold the belief where any women were to die during childbirth, they'll be back to snatch the 'Housewife Award'

2. Pret- Thais or Buddhists strongly believe in Karma, you know, where if one does good, good will return to him, likewise for the opposite, however it is not only for the current life it is also for the after life. Pret is known as a reincarnated spirit that carries bad karma from the day they were born till their last breath. Pret is a tall tree-like being somehow if you wanna compare to 'Groot' or the 'Tree Man'. Pret is said to be those from 'Ungrateful Materialistic' people when they were alive. In southern Thailand, Pret Festivals are carried out to remind the living of what Karma can do badly in the afterlife if you are ungrateful.

3. Krahang & Krasue- Now these two are the 'Power Couple' of the underworld. Krahang is portrayed as a male vampire with wings that attacks women in the village and kill live stocks to feats on its blood. While Krasue is the Female version With no body but just a floating head with intestines in the air. She feasts on women in labor and i would say 'fresh Infants'. Krasue however is also known as a woman who practices black magic to attain her youth and body. This is where the ol' blood sucking and baby feasting started as it is part of her ritual. she will only be able to form into her normal self when the sun rises. However Villagers once able to capture these two blood suckers by certain herbs believed to be the downfall of these two. oh of course, with Monks in action as well.

These are only a few to mention but definitely makes the top 3 of all Thai Urban Legend. Till then, i would continue the next lists of more Thai horror urban Legends.

Feel free to let me know if you would like to know more of these Urban Legends. as they say, It takes One to know One.
