Arcane Truths

For whoever finds this:

I'm probably long dead or captured, these are all the findings of my time as an arcane investigator. This journal recants tales from the moment I decide to dive into the world of the arcane and learn all I can. I hope this journal finds a worthy successor, someone who, like me will be unafraid to uncover the dark secrets of our world. Read, study, learn all you can, my successor.

Genesis C. Drake

September 1st

“This is the journal of Genesis C. Drake, Not too long ago I, by random happenstance, learned of the world that exists hidden in our own. I witnessed what I can only describe as a beast. It looked like a man, it stood like a man but it was holding that poor woman in its arms with such strength. The way its teeth( if you could call them that, actually calling them fangs would be a better description) had sunk into her neck with ease. It was terrifying. I tried to say something but to my shock I found myself paralyzed in place. That didn't stop the beast from realizing I was there because he slowly moved his eyes towards my direction before dropping the woman completely and, with the face of a handsomely chiseled jawline man, stared right at me. His bright red eyes were piercing, I could feel them not just looking at my face but I could feel him staring into my soul. My heart had never beat louder or harder in my life but that besides the point, me being there must have done something because the beast parted with a slight smirk and was gone in an instant, disappearing into the fog.

I have no clue what that creature was, but it opened my eyes to the darkness that lurked in the night. Since then I've learned a bit, studying simple occult books, following small leads towards more creatures. I've learned they belong to the world of unexplainable powers and entities that exist and enact their wills and it is all referred to as the Arcane. I was never much a man of religion but this only turns my mind in the best ways possible. What could these hidden creatures have inspired in human history? What if our great wonders were all made by arcane creatures or users? What answers lay ahead of me now that I have stumbled into this world?

This knowledge would probably terrify the average man but me... No, this knowledge sets my soul ablaze, to find out all I can, to discover all the secrets of the world's dark corners. To solve the crimes normal men can't solve. I may be a curious man but I am not a stupid one, This journal will serve as documentation of all my cases & findings as well as a way to pass my story on should this world be the death of me. This level of excitement, this new unknown, this boils my blood something fierce but at the same time, it brings a slow creeping chill to my bones...to my very core. I can't let fear stop me though, I will uncover all the truths I can.

I've used my savings to start my company, Arcane Truths: Private investigator. I've also gathered a small collection of occult lore from various places to start my journey. My true goal is to find that beast from that life-changing night, so far nothing has pointed me in the clear direction of it. I won't let that discourage me, I will discover all I can, learn all I can. I will be there when things go bump in the night using my detective skills to help those who can't help themselves.

My only hope is that one day my findings not only save lives but propel the world into a new age. Maybe I can be the one to start the next revolution...the arcane revolution. At the very least I will shine a light on that foul creature. This is only the beginning of my journey into the arcane world.
