An encounter with "lasers"

This account is not your typical ghost story and involves a close relative who we will call Jeff (not his real name). Jeff relayed this story to me several days after it had occurred. The events in this account took place approximately 25 years ago when Jeff was in High school.

One night whilst home alone Jeff realized that he had failed to put his bike away in the back shed. The back shed was a rather rustic looking corrugated iron building that had three rooms and had the general appearance of a small house. Jeff wheeled his bike out towards the shed, opened one of the shed doors and walked inside. It was once inside that he noticed a number of slow moving lights out of the corner of his eye. Jeff turned towards the lights and saw that they began in mid air and stretched in a number of directions. Jeff described these lights as being 'laser like' in appearance. I can't remember the colors of these lights but I do remember Jeff telling me that there were several differently colored 'lasers'. The lights were aproximately 1 to 2 cm in diameter and approximately 1 metre in length. Jeff described several of these slow moving lights as moving over his body. This was accompanied by a physical sensation of some sort as Jeff told me that he could feel the 'lasers' tracking over him for much of that night. Once back inside his house Jeff could no longer see the lights in the shed but the discomforting feeling of lasers tracking over him remained.

When I asked Jeff's mother about his story she told me that he was visibly shaken and obviously very scared. He was so afraid that after the occurrence he had brought his dog inside for protection. I asked her whether she believed Jeff's story. She told me that it was obvious that Jeff was very frightened and that she believed he had experienced something. She had no idea as to what he had experienced though.

I have no real explanation for what Jeff experienced. Jeff was in his mid teens at the time. He reports that he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs when he experienced these events and to the best of my knowledge Jeff has never suffered from a mental illness. The 'lasers' Jeff saw can not easily be categorised as a traditional ghost sighting, nor is there any evidence that they were in any way UFO related. Like many paranormal experiences, we will never be able to explain exactly what Jeff experienced a quarter of a century ago. This event remains as mysterious now as it was then.
