A Cautionary Tale for the Future of the Human Race

I fear I won’t be able to make entries after today. Supplies have grown scarce. I have started to succumb to hunger and become delirious but I must complete this entry. Not only so the truth can be known, but also because I can no longer carry the weight of this guilt, for my role in the events leading up to this. My whole life I’ve lived by the mantra of Do No Harm. On November 3rd 2085 I failed to uphold that oath, and I failed humanity on a scale that, at the time, I just couldn’t have fathomed. On that day my team would change the course of humanity and ultimately the downfall of the human race, and it all started with a heart shaped locket.

What I’m about to detail is what many believe happened. I must stress that this is only an educated guess, but knowing what we now know, I think it’s fair to say that We can’t be far off from the truth. Everything I’m about to disclose has been classified information. If there is anyone left to find this, it is my truest belief that you have the right to know how we ended up here, and how in our quest for enlightenment and evolution, we ended up costing mankind everything.

August 2084. It was the year that Augustus Richardson would change the trajectory of the human race forever, although at the time nobody could foresee the chain of events about to transpire. Richardson was responsible for creating a new form of radiocarbon dating. Extremely accurate and able to measure and compare dates and historical events across the globe in a way never thought possible. Richardson was an archaeologist tasked with locating the final burial place of Jesus at the request of the Catholic Church. In exchange for his services they granted Richardson an opportunity to examine the shroud of Jesus that had not been seen by the public since 2020. At that time scientists and the church were in disagreement over the age of the shroud, with scientists then stating that the age was 88 years off of meeting the requirements to be the shroud of Christ. However, Based on the testing that Richardson’s team conducted, they determined the shroud was from 34AD.

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre contains a vault that was believed to be the site of Jesus' burial. With new evidence, it was determined that this was incorrect. Further testing identified a rare mineral that was only present in a cave located just outside of Jerusalem Called Yeshua cave. Upon exploring Yeshua’s Cave, Richardson’s team discovered not only the final resting place of Jesus but also of Mary of Joachim, and it was in this resting place that a heart shaped locket was discovered, dating to 35AD. In this locket, what was discovered was considered extraordinary and possibly the greatest Archaeological Discovery in the history of mankind. The locket contained a lock of what was believed to be the actual hair of Jesus Christ.

Upon this discovery, The US government seized everything recovered in the excavation and deemed the site classified. This is when I was contracted by General Robinson of the United States military. I had recently made some break throughs in the field of cloning and I was on the verge of being able to conduct human trials as the law against this type of science had been abolished 2 years before with the inauguration of president Pawar. Unbeknownst to Richardson, his discovery was about to alter history drastically but perhaps not quite in the way he intended. In 2085 cloning had advanced to a point that it took only a few days for a fully grown adult specimen. The aging process was done in the incubation system designed by myself and my team. People will say that we played God that day by bringing back The Son of God. I would later try to explain that we were just taking orders from our country but it didn’t matter. People will always blame me for what happened here. I can’t even argue with them. I made a choice, and I had to live with it no matter how dire the consequences were.

So on the orders of the Government, my team and I began the process of producing a clone of Jesus from the hair found inside the heart shaped locket, that we believe Jesus’s mother Mary wore after his death. We set out to do something that shouldn’t have been discussed in the first place, but as man has proven, time and time again, we too refused to believe that we were doing anything wrong. Instead we were pushing the boundaries of science and looking for answers about our past and the evolution of the human species. We were only contemplating the question of could we actually clone Jesus Christ. We never stopped to think about whether we should and what the ramifications might be.

Now understand that there is no way to confirm this. We were trying to make sense of the events that transpired that day. No one could’ve predicted what would happen, never in a million years, but we have a hypothesis as to how we got here. We all know they story of Jesus’s crucifixion and his resurrection 3 days later. However, the story omits a detail that would bring the Catholic Church to their knees and have the whole population questioning what they know about religion. When Jesus was resurrected after 3 days, most people would tell you that that was a miracle from God. Those people couldn’t be further from the truth. God didn’t bring Jesus back from the dead as some sort of saviour. It was quite the opposite actually. God brought Jesus back from the dead as punishment for mankind killing his son. God was angry with us and this was how he dealt with that anger. By bringing his son back to life to smite us for our sins.

That’s because upon resurrection, We now believe that Jesus was the first, for lack of a better term, Zombie. We can only conclude based on the results of our attempt to clone Jesus that this is in fact true. We can’t began to speculate who covered up this information. Maybe the church. Maybe whoever was in power at that time, but it is our belief that upon Resurrection, Jesus went on to infect hundreds of people before the virus was somehow contained and eliminated. We have a theory that this may be why a large stone was placed to block the opening of the grave of Jesus but we don’t know how containment was achieved. We believe he was trapped in this grave, undead, until the hunger left him as nothing more than dust and dirt.

I believe this because I saw with my own eyes the thing that we brought back through the cloning process, and saw the hatred in its eyes. By the time we realized what we had done it was too late. All out chaos ensued following the completion of the cloning process. Jesus broke through the chamber glass and his first victim was Dr. Simmons. He bit her on the face and she turned instantaneously. Her eyes turning a milky grey, devoid of anything but rage. Within mere minutes 30 victims had been infected, including several military personnel. At first, aside from their injuries they still appeared human except for their eyes. The sounds that came from their throats was horrific, and unlike anything ever heard. Piercing and cold, animalistic in nature yet strangely human in its agony.

It didn’t take long for the virus to spread. The base was breached within an hour. The only reason I survived the chaos is because several of us were able to enter the panic room designed in case of nuclear threat or attack to the facility. In fact I recall there being protesters that day outside. I believe that factor, in part, was the reason it spread so quickly and the military wasn’t able to contain it. The spread was unlike anything I had ever seen, whether manmade or in nature. We as a human race had experienced viruses before, but nothing like this. I am astounded that we survived this long with the rate at which it first spread. Millions of infected within a day. Within a week, it was half of the human population.

The level of carnage was astronomical. Canada was the first to completely succumb to the virus. Followed by China, who’s number of citizens played a huge factor in their demise. And these weren’t your typical run of the mill Infected. They were organized. They were like a hive mind, all working in sync with each other, taking their lead from Jesus Christ. It’s impossible to say how this worked without first studying them in depth, although I can confirm that the military was able to do some testing in the beginning. Testing had to be performed with the upmost of caution as it was discovered that just one drop of blood or bodily fluid from these things could turn you into one of them. It was from there that they began to experiment with less than conventional methods of dealing with the infection.

We used the chemical compound LD44067 discovered in 2048. The blackest substance known to man as it had the natural ability to absorb light, and when put into suspended animation, was able to create a barrier, blocking out the sun temporarily. It was originally believed that the lack of daylight was why Jesus had originally been sealed in his tomb. They thought that the natural process of decay only took effect in the absence of light. This proved however to be incorrect. It wasn’t actually decay at all but instead evolution would occur during darkness. They would Become stronger, bones becoming thicker and armour developing around the head and shoulders of the infected. Mouths becoming more protruded and teeth growing into points.

We then thought they would would freeze to death if temperatures were to drop. In 2052, We created a way to trigger a temporary shift in the weather, and we would use this method to start a temporary man made ice age. Theoretically this should have worked, but what we didn’t know at the time is that the zombies had an internal temperature of 198 degrees. Completely unfathomable yet it was true.

There were other attempts to fight back and regain control but they all proved futile. The outbreak had spread to 92% of the population by 2088. It was decided the only way to rid the earth of the virus and the infected, was to get as many people as possible off world to ED-01A, the largest Bio-Dome created by man on the surface of Mars. Completely sustainable for up to 300 people for a period of 10 years. Once off planet, several nukes launched all over the world will wipe out the virus and remaining undead. A lottery was held to determine who would be on the ship headed to Mars, with the remaining people, such as myself left here to die. They decided the nukes would be dropped on Independence Day as a sign of solidarity for the survivors. The survivors would then eventually return to earth when it was safe to do so.

What started as a quest for enlightenment and understanding as to why we were here, what our purpose was, and to advance our evolution, wound up costing the entire planet known as earth and almost everyone inhabiting it. I have destroyed the heart shaped locket and the contents of which it held. When this entry is eventually found, please don’t make the same mistakes we did here. Some things are just not meant to be known and should be left in the past.
