5 Horror Movies Hollywood Needs To Reboot

In an era of reboots, these 5 titles can't be left out

Over the course of the last decade, Hollywood has rebooted movies from nearly every genre. These reboots are either hit or miss, in other words, they're either extremely successful or absolute flops. One could make the argument that out of all the movie genres, the best reboots have come from horror movies. Childs Play, It, Holloween, and, most recently, Scream, all have had a significant amount of success in the box office. The latest technology in cinematography is to blame for that. Given how successful those projects were, one can't help but think about some other projects that have a significant amount of reboot potential. Under the right circumstances, these movies could certainly be home runs if they were to be rebooted today.

30 Days of Night

Probably one of the greatest vampire movies of all time, 30 Days of Night had to be included in this list. This movie was so scary, I had trouble sleeping the first time I saw it; in fact, I'm positive that it would still send a chill down my spine if I rewatched it today. Vampires taking advantage of a month of darkness to feed on an entire Alaskan town is far too good of a concept to not be rebooted. It's been a minute since we've seen a horror film filled with bloodsuckers as good as this one. That vampires on a plane movie that Netflix came out with doesn't even compare. If they made another 30 Days of Night, I'd definitely buy a ticket to the premier.

John Carpenter's The Thing

Like vampires, it's been quite a while since horror fans have been given a good scary movie about aliens. The last one I can remember was Life, which came out nearly half a decade ago; I guess IT technically counts but to me that will always be a movie about a killer clown. John Carpenters The Thing is a cult classic and one of my personal favorite horror movies. Unfortunately, the attempt at creating a prequel was a huge disappointment that didn't hold a candle to the original film. Given the fact that The Thing came out nearly three decades ago, it would be nothing short of a tragedy if we didn't get to see what a reboot would look like with the technology Hollywood has today.

The Faculty

If I'm being honest, this is the film that I'd personally like to see rebooted the most. If The Thing is an alien "creature feature", then The Faculty is an alien invasion movie. In my opinion, it's one of the coolest and most creative alien invasion movies that has ever been made. Released in the 90s', The Faculty is about a species of alien parisites that begin their attempt to take over the planet with a small-town high school. It's up to 5 high school students to stop them and save the world. The film has an ensamble of celebrities in their early days; Elija Wood, 30 Days of Night star Josh Hartnett, a young Usher, and Fast & The Furious actress Jordana Brewster to name a few. A reboot of this film could be made into another movie or a tv series, either one would be equally satisfying but one thing's for sure, it should definitely be rebooted.

The Hills Have Eyes

Produced by Wes Kraven in the 70s' and then remade again in 2006, The Hills Have Eyes is one of the most disturbing movies ever made. It's like the movie Wrong Turn except this band of diformed mutants live in the desert where the US government used to test their atomic weapons. They kill all of the men but keep the women for "mating purposes" (those poor poor girls, ewwy). If the Wrong Turn franchise was just given another movie, I don't see why The Hills Have Eyes shouldn't get one. As twisted as the prior films have all been, I'm sure if a reboot were made today it would be ten times as fucked up.

A Nightmare On Elm Street

Hands down Wes Kravens greatest franchise, A Nightmare On Elm Street gave birth to one of the most famous horror movie killers of all time. A killer that murders his victims in their sleep, Freddy Kruger has claimed a spot in the horror movie hall of fame. The franchise attempted one reboot already back in 2010 but it didn't hold a candle to the original films from the 80s'. However, now that Michael Myers, Chucky, Pennywise, and Ghostface have all had another go on the big screen, it's only fair that our favorite christmas sweater wearing killer gets his as well. How awesome would it be to hear that terrifying song again? 1... 2... Freddy's coming for you!
