Bloodsucking beings. Creatures that thrive in the night. Soulless monsters. For years, people have been fascinated by this myth of vampires. And I am not talking about the sparkly, romance kind, but the true creatures of the night. So I created a list of the top 10 vampire movies out there. Here they are...

#10

30 Day Of Night is a 2007 Thriller/Horror film.

It is based in a small town in Alaska that experiences 30 days of complete darkness every year. Most of the townspeople head south for the winter, as to escape this darkness, but a few decided to stay behind. Unfortunately for them, darkness is not the only thing that descends upon the town. A group of hungry vampires attack and the Sheriff, his wife, and the last few survivors must try to outlast them until dawn finally comes... in a month.

A dark tale filled with these bloodthirsty creatures of legend that makes you wonder if they might actually be real.

#9

The Lost Boys is a 1987 mystery film.

Teenage brothers Michael and Sam move with their mother to a small town in Northern California. The Sam meets two new friends at the comic book store Edward and Alan, while Michael falls for a girl named Star. Unfortunately for him, Star is in thrall to David the leader of a local vampire gang. Now Sam and his new friends have to face these vampires and save Michael and Star before it is too late.

This is a tale of an angst-ridden teen who finds even more danger than he ever wanted and is forced into a life as the undead because of it.

#8

Bram Stoker's Dracula is a 1997 Drama film based off of the book by Bram Stoker.

Count Dracula is a 15th-century prince and is cursed to live off of the blood of the living for all eternity. The young lawyer, Jonathan Harker, is sent to Dracula's castle to finalize a land deal, but when Dracula sees a photo of Harker's fiance, Mina, he imprisons him. For Mina is the spitting image of Dracula's dead wife, and he is determined to set off for London to win her over into being his for the rest of eternity.

Most people that love vampires have watched this movie, but there is much to be said for that. It is definitely an oldy, but a goody.

#7

Blade is a 1998 thriller film.

Blade himself is half human, half vampire but his goal in life is to exterminate all vampires everywhere. (Yes, there is some irony in this) Modern day technology has advanced vampires and now they are in search of a specific blood type which plays a key role in summoning an evil god where will extinguish the human race for good.

This takes a different take on vampires then the other movies but still leaves the key points of vampirism. It is a very action-packed movie and they even made more than one, so if you enjoy it you can enjoy the other movies as well.

#6

Let Me In is a 2010 drama film.

Owen is a 12-year-old boy who is bullied at school and neglected by his parents at home. So he spends his days plotting his revenge and his nights spying on the other people in the apartment complex. His sole friend is Abby, a strange girl who only comes out at night. They are two outcasts who form a strong bond with each other. When in the middle of a series of gruesome murders Abby's guardian disappears, Owen begins to think that Abby may be hiding a very dark secret.

Let Me In gives vampires a very dark look as we watch what happens when a vampire child is free to roam.

#5

Family Blood is a 2018 horror film.

Ellie is a recovering drug addict and moves to a new city with her two teenage children. That is when she meets Christopher who is a different kind of addict. There meeting ends up sending Ellie into a downward spiral, but no longer does she crave drugs but blood. She must find a way free of Christopher or it could mean her children's lives.

A new take on vampires, and comparing them with a drug addict was a very nice and accurate twist.

#4

Interview With The Vampire is a 1994 drama film.

Louis is a vampire who was born in the 18th century and is finally telling the story of his life and dead to an eager biographer. After the death of his entire family, he is suicidal and meets vampire Lestat who convinces him to join the undead rather than die. When he finally decides to leave his violent maker, Lestat keeps him from leaving by turning a young girl to join their family. But she comes with a lot of problems.

It is a good movie as long as you can get past the horrible makeup, but you also need to remember what time they are playing, so that gaudy makeup does make sense.

#3

Underworld is a 2003 thriller film.

Selene is a vampire who works as a Death Dealer, killing Lycans who allegedly slaughtered her family. When Lycans take an interest in a mortal doctor named Michael, Selene has to save him from Lucian, a Lycan hellbent on destroying the entire bloodline. In the process of saving this human, Selene learns truths about her past and finds out that vampires may not be as trustworthy as she believed them to be.

Underworld is an action-packed movie that portrays the age-old battle between vampires and werewolves and shows how humans seem to always be caught in the center.

#2

Queen Of The Damned is a 2002 drama film.

Follows the legendary vampire Lestat as he raises from his coffin to make himself a rockstar in modern American music. But the music he writes is actually ancient vampire secrets that he is now telling the world and it draws the wrath of the other vampires, but awakens Akasha, the queen of vampires. Her evil power forces all immortal vampires to stand against her and she has decided that Lestat will be her king. A young woman fascinated with the dark side and vampires falls in love with Lestat and learns the truth about her childhood.

This is an amazing movie that has bloodthirsty vampires, betrayal, love, and death. All things that make an awesome vampire movie.

#1

Dracula Untold is a 2014 drama film.

Vlad III in 15th century Transylvania is known as a just ruler. With his wife Mirena, he has brokered a period of peace and ensured that his people are protected, especially from the Ottoman Empire. But when the Sultan demands 1000 of the country's boys, including Vlad's son, he must make a deal with an ancient monster to keep everyone safe. He knows that it will cost him his humanity but never expected it to also cost him his family.

This is an amazing movie, very well made, and entertaining. But the biggest reason this movie is number one is the myth behind the story. For many years, there has been an assumption because of legends about him that the original Dracula, in reality, was actually Vlad the Impaler. So for them to take that theory and turn it into the Dracula story was quite amazing.
