Wrestlemania 42: Night 1 Predictions
Who's Claiming Gold on the Grandest Stage of 2026?

You know the saying "It's not over until the fat man sings"? Well at Wrestlemania 42, for two nights the world will witness many climbing their way to the top with gold on their mind. So in the spirit of taking a gambling chance, I will be giving you my predictions of how each match goes before the weekend begins for Night 1 and Night 2 of Wrestlemani. Be sure to leaeve your predictions in the comments and give a note to who you think will win as well!
Let's start off with Night 1 of Wrestlemania 42. After ending his retirement tour, John Cena announced that he will be hosting Wrestlemani this year which does give a bit of nostalgia as he has headlined multiple Wrestlemania's in the past during his career. Now I will say this I was expecting AJ Styles to probably host as he will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame alongside others like Stephanie McMahon.
Undisputed Championship Match - Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Randy Orton
Now the first match that may happen (probably during the main event) is for the Undisputed WWE Championship currently held by The American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes. His opponent, Randy Orton aka The Viper has brought alongside Pat Maga- I mean MacAfee as rignside support only becasue these two believe that beating Cody could help "save the business". Don't get me wrong, I don't mind seeing Randy claim his 15th championship. However, Pat is truly just showing that with his loud outburst on and off camera, the disrespect towards fans, and even insulting the entire WWE universe both young and old proves that he is just unnecessary noise for Randy. Yes, Pat admitted that he has spoken to Randy and told him to "off everyone" from manhandling JellyRoll to injuring Matt Cardona. Randy has the ability to turn himself into a walking kamikaze and Pat should be very careful himself wether he is rooting for Randy or not. Bottom line, I don't mind Randy or Cody winning the championship, just as long as something is done about Pat because it would just make the experience of the match lack luster in my opinion.
Women's World Championship- Stephanie Vacquer (c) vs. Liv Morgan
Now this match I know my mind is already made up. I despise Liv Morgan not really going to lie about for varoius reasons. One of which Stephanie herself has pointed out on multiple promotions that she is just hiding behind her facades in order to remain relevant; the facades being the "Low Budget" Judgement Day and Dirty Dominik Mysterio. I was once a fan of the Judgment when the member were at its authentic form - Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, Finn Balor, Dirty Dominik, and JD McDonaugh. But now that that 3 of the 4 original memebers have been casted out thanks to Dominik, its clear that this could be the fall for the Judgement Day as a whole completely. Yes, Roxanne Perez and Racquel Rodriguez fills up in strenghth and agility, but how long will that last for Liv? Roxanne was brought in by Finna Balor and now that he is out the picture I do think Roxanne may give Liv the slip up costing her the match. I really do enjoy Stephanie's run as champion and I hope that she does progress another 100 days if not more.La Primera defintely has my vote any day of the week!
Women's Intercontiental Championship- AJ Lee (c) vs. Becky Lynch
Now this match is one where hopefully the minor sense of delusion can be put to rest. I haven't seen many matches form the Diva Era, but based on how bent Becky Lynch is getting this championship back I think that AJ may have this one in the bag again. Mind you, despite all the efforts that Becky has tried to claim she didn't lose to AJ Lee, Becky was seen on many angles tapping out from the Black Widow hold; the same hold that even made Bayley tap out. If anything, Becky may just have to get used to seeing AJ Lee light up this year being not only every wrestler's favorite wrestler, but also their favorite women's intercontinental champion as well.
Women's Tag Team Championship- Fatal 4 Way - Irrestible Forces (c) vs. The Bella Twins vs Lyra V and Bayley vs. Alexa B and Charlotte F.
Now I will say this, with such powerhouses like Lash Legend and Nia Jax hold the tag team titles, it's probably going to take a lot of pressure to be applied to get both of these women to fold. Now I do not have a single clue onto why bringing back Nikki and Brie Bella was a good idea after the Royal Rumble , especially after they betrayed each other during the Diva era. But in any case, I do see Bayley and Lyra claiming gold by a long shot so fingers will be crossed.
Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi
Now this match I will have completely no idea if it will stay in the ring let alone if there are at least 5-10 refs on standby for this match because these two men aren't wrestling; this will be a straight brawl. Now I haven't watched a lot of matches with Brock Lesnar as I started watching WWE in 2018, but I know the minute his walk in theme drops so does the confidence of anyone in the ring... except Oba Femi. From his time on NXT, Femi has proven that he is more than just a walking force, he has commanded every match with each and every bodyslam and Fall From Grace. Still there is no telling which brand will keep The Ruler, however, it doesn't mean he can conquer both RAW and Smackdown without having a advocate by his side. Lesnar , on the other hand, has the opportunist Paul Heyman in his corner and quite frankly, Oba doesn't seemed phased by it. So I do think Oba may be the first man of 2026 to put the Beast to rest during his Wrestlemania debut.
Triple Threat Tag Match- The Vision/ IShowSpeed vs. The Usos & L.A. Knight
Now this match may already have a clear ending but I will try to be brief as I really don't like a portion of who is fighting. So if you aren't caught up to how we got to this match, viral YouTube streamer/ rising wreslting pehnomena IShowSpeed cost The Usos their tag team titles by interference thus leading Logan Paul and Austin Theory to claim the win. In additon to that L.A Knight also has a bone to pick with the streamer as he costed Knight his singles match against Austin Theory. Now according to Speed, he didn't mean to interfere at all as his main reason to showing up to Raw was to find Danhausen. As the new addition to WWE from AEW, Danhasuen has become a very nice and very evil ray of sunshine for multiple reasons; many of which involve curses. Since Speed could not give Danhausen what he wanted, he...was...CURSED. Don't worry, Danhausen has not left IShowSpeed alone with his bad luck; Dirty Dominik, Kit Wilson, The Miz, Grayson Waller, and even Kofi Kingston were among many to be cursed by Danhausen. So this could end badly for The Vision as Speed knows he's cursed and yet they believe it's a farce. So with that mindset, I do think the Usos and L.A. Knight (YEAH) may have this win in the bag for Night 1.
Unsanctioned Match- Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu
Now of course I had to save the most craziest match for last as I know that there could be a possibility that cameras may cut for a few moments. Both of these mean have not been able to stay sane for the sake of Wrestlemania let alone their own safety. So with Nick Aldis making this match unsanctioned, I would not be surprised if there is blood spilled from both Drew and Jacob. I have not really seen much growth from Drew since Wrestlemania when Big Papi- I mean Damian Priest cashed in to snatch his World Heayweight Championship a few years back. From that moment, Drew blamed everyone he could possibly think of even had moments of quitting Smackdown when things didn't go his way. Now that he lost the Undisputed Championship due to Jacob's inteference, Drew's blame game took a different turn. Jacob Fatu, on the other hand, he has shown more than just being a Samoan Werewolf, he has proven to his opponents that no matter how the match goes, Fatu will implement pain in the worst ways possible. After stepping away from The Bloodline and even having a few title runs himself, Fatu's aura is one that does stick with his motto "All Gas, No Breaks". So for this match, I will defintely see Jacob winning unless their really is no way to call for a winner due to the brutality these men will give to eacher other.
Seth "Freakin" Rollins vs. Gunther
So for this match I knew writing for it would be soemthing I would save for last for numerous reasons. All of which mainly are with Seth Freakin' Rollins. Since his return from being speared and tsunamied by the Brons of the Vision, which now just consist of Logan Paul and Austin Theory. Although many have predicted that this could be Seth's karma, this could also bring a little bit of the revolutionary aspect out as his "vision" seemed to be blurred out thanks to Paul Heyman's not so wise antics. Now that Heyman is siding with Brock Lesnar, I think bringing in Gunther was nothing more than a insurance policy. Gunther has had a very steep track record for his brual force from holding titles to just making his presence known from the crescendo's of his music. All of this may be seen as unnecessary so I really can't stand behind either for the match, but I just hope Seth doesn't get put to sleep 5 minutes into the match.
Well this was a lot to unpack for just one night of Wrestlemania, but don't worry I will be posting my night 2 predictions while watching Smackdown which will air on USA. As a little tidbit, Wrestlemania will be streaming on ESPN and Netflix for those who watch internationally. Pre and post shows will of course be seen on YouTube as well.
Who do you think will come out on top for night 1? Be sure to leave you predictions below!
