You won’t be a Hufflepuff or a Slytherin, but if you want to study witchcraft, pagan rituals, spells, and such all you have to do is sign up for Witch School in Southern Illinois’ newest educational center, WSI.

Welcome to Witch School

You don’t need a passport, any secret knowledge, or to have been born into the world of wizards and witchcraft to learn the centuries-old practices of Witchcraft, spells, and Paganism. You won’t need to be a part of a family legacy to find your way to casting your first spells, writing your spells, and performing ancient magicks. Nowadays, all you need to do is sign up and start learning the secret arts of witches, pagan rituals, and how to wield the powers of grimoires. How is this possible?

In a small town in Southern Illinois, Witch School International is in business and business is apparently quite good. Their website is boasting that nearly 200,000 people have signed up from 193 countries around the globe. Fortunately, you can take classes online in the 21st century, or that would be a crowded campus life.

Courses?

What kind of educational system would it be without a curriculum? If you go to Witch School you can take courses like:

  • Introduction to Wands 101 and 102
  • Basic Spell Writing
  • Before You Cast a Spell
  • Correllian Wicca — First Degree
  • Correllian Wicca — The Five Mystic Secrets
  • Correllian Philosophy
  • Pagans and the Law
  • Progressive Witchcraft
  • Introduction to Magickal Grimoires

That’s just a sampling of the courses you can find, out of the 35 free courses on their website. There are an additional 103 courses available under the paid curriculum.

Why wouldn’t you want to learn Witchcraft? Some of the world’s most influential people have been in the “dark” arts for many years. While most of the Wicca world preaches things like energies and mother earth, witchcraft is still routed in mystery and urban legend to many people.

“I sage everything, all the time. Constantly sage-ing. I don’t want bad energy.”

Absolutely nothing against the twins, but they do have a look that screams “witchy woman!”

Witch School International

From their website, Witch School is the Seminary of the Correllian Nativist Church, a Wiccan church based in the United States. For those that don’t know, or don’t have a good understanding, modern Wicca is a group of related, nature-based religions with their origins rooted in ancient practices. Their faith took shape in the late nineteenth century and grew from then on.

Witch school offers degree-level studies in Correllian Wicca, which meet all the requirements to apply to become a member of the Clergy in the church. The school also offers classes about other forms of Wicca, paganist paths, non-Wiccan Witchcraft, magic, psychic skills, and more. Their belief is that it’s best to study as much about different disciplines of the practices to have a well-rounded understanding of practicing magics.

Takeaway

I won’t be the one to stereotype or cast aspersions on the legitimacy of any belief or belief system. Witchcraft has been practiced for hundreds, maybe thousands of years, and has roots in every culture around the world. Whether it’s gypsy lore, Hoodoo magic, voodoo, Wicca, or simple dark arts practitioners, magic has always been a part of the world despite what some might believe. The fact that there’s a school based out of the United States, in my home state, is interesting because I wouldn’t have imagined something like this possible before hearing about it today.

Just imagine how proud all the poor victims of the Salem Witch Trials would be today if they knew there was a school opened up to teach their trade to 21st century kids and curious types alike.
