Worst Movies of 2023

Bottom 5

With as many amazing movies as we got last year there were bound to be a few bombs. Some bombed harder than others but altogether these are the worst movies of the year. Alright here we go with the list of the absolute worst movies of 2023. These are unforgivably bad with absolutely no redeeming qualities. This list also kind of has a wide range of scores so we will be going from the least offensive to the most upsettingly bad.

We are starting with Renfield so I guess my biggest problem with this movie is that it had so much potential to be the perfect campy vampire movie and instead it tried so hard to be earnest. Nicholas Cage was truly perfectly cast as Dracula and the support group angle was freaking awesome and all of that perfect set up was wasted entirely. If they had just gotten rid of the entire cop storyline it would have been a fantastic movie. But their attempt to be more than camp failed spectacularly.

Wish is possibly the worst Disney movie of all time. That includes straight to DVD sequels. There was not a single good song. Everything felt very disjointed. All of the music felt like it was an afterthought to the story. Ariana Debose and Chris Pine were incredible casting choices that were just completely wasted. It was a 2 hour waste of my life and I have never been so disappointed in Disney.

Love Again was an irredeemably bad romantic comedy. It felt like it was a parody of romantic comedies, trying to use all of the tropes but definitely did not execute them well at all. It was actually really painful to watch, I didn’t even finish it. It was poorly structured; there was nothing actually funny in the romantic COMEDY. And there was absolutely no chemistry between the romantic leads whatsoever.

The Meg 2 was so wildly disappointing. Not because I was expecting anything spectacular but because I like monster movies. Now the coolest part of watching a monster movie is seeing the monster tear some shit up. But there was like 0 screentime for our monster. They also kind of tried to introduce like a giant squid monster but also never really showed it. So not only did they try and give a monster movie an actual story, but they also tried to add another monster and also they didn’t really show us either monster. It was super terrible and honestly without the actual monsters it was really boring.

Last, dead, depressingly last is Infinity Pool. This movie was pointless and weird and a waste of all time and resources. Look, Mia Goth is amazing as an actress and she was still great in this movie but the film had no story. There was no structure, there was no plot, there was no purpose. It was an incoherent mess and I really wish I didn’t waste my time. I also never finished this movie. It was so so terrible. There was a vague air of rich people can do whatever they want because they will find a way out of consequences but it wasn't defined and other movies tell that same story much better.

There weren’t necessarily as many bad movies as there were good ones this year but the ones that were bad were really really BAD. Now it's only logical that we had to have some truly terrible movies this year because we got granted so many incredible ones. But I still wasted approximately 10 hours of my life on these terrible movies that I will never get back.
