Will Rhaenyra Receive the Same Fire & Blood Fate in House of the Dragon?
I'm curious if she will get a completely different death.

After reading the entire portion of House of the Dragon in the book of Fire & Blood, I now have so many questions about Rhaenyra's possible fate in the television show. In Fire & Blood, her fate is downright cruel, which is ironic, considering that she receives the nickname Rhaenyra the Cruel later.
During the Targaryen Civil war in the Dance of the Dragons, Rhaenyra loses everything over time. Her team is slowly defeated, and she has no choice but to flee from King's Landing, to escape her half-brother Aegon who returns to retake the Iron Throne. Rhaenyra goes mad while she is on the run, and she is tricked with returning to Dragonstone, where her brother is waiting for her. She is captured by her brother's people, including with her last remaining son, Aegon.
Aegon and Rhaenyra share a sort of 'heart to heart moment,' but it mostly comes off mocking on both ends. Then her brother allows Rhaenyra to hold her son one last time, before he pulls them apart. Aegon is forced to watch his mother get burned alive by Sunfyre, her brother's dragon, and then it proceeded to consume her, leaving only one of her legs behind.
One of her most trusted maids had witnessed this event too, and she went so crazy over this sight, that she tore out her own eyes. I felt so sorry for the maid too, because she had gone through so much before she was forced to endure such a twisted image. Her poor son was left traumatized for life, and it was hinted that the boy never truly recovered from his mother's horrific death.
I'm so mixed on how I feel about her death in the book. It is ironic that she gets eaten by a dragon, but at the same time, I felt that she deserved a different death. She became such a paranoid queen, killing or capturing anyone that she thought was a traitor, and she started doubting her own team, wondering if they were secretly plotting against her. King's Landing itself suffered during her rule, to the point where everyone went mad and turned against her.
She even committed one of the sickest and most disgusting crimes imaginable against her stepmother and half - sister. Due to her stepmother asking for mercy upon her sons, Aegon and Aemond, Rhaenyra retaliated by forcing both women into a brothel, where they were tortured for who knows how long by men, and the women became known as the 'Brothel Queens.' It is stated that this crime could have been only a rumor, but I do think Rhaenyra actually did this to her family members.
Personally, I feel that Rhaenyra should have suffered a whole lot worse for the torture she brought to everyone that she considered her enemies.
I'm now wondering if Rhaenyra's fate could be different in the television show.
Before season 3 to House of the Dragon ended, we got one more final scene with Rhaenyra. She found out that her half-sister had thrown herself out the window, to spare herself from more torture upon the hands of her own family. Rhaenyra discovered a quilt that her sister had been working on, and the images were quite peculiar and eerie.
The first image Rhaenyra saw was her sister's death, but once she moved the quilt more, she saw another image, one of herself. She is sitting on the Iron Throne with a sword, blood seeping from the crown on her head, as the dragons are burning around her. What if Rhaenyra does become the paranoid queen later, to the point where she refuses to leave her throne?
A family member told me an interesting theory that sounds like poetic justice.
What if Rhaenyra refuses to leave King's Landing? What if she waits for Aegon to arrive, and she is suddenly stabbed by him, and she crawls all the way back to her throne, and she ends up dying, sitting on the one thing that literally ruined her life?
It's still pretty bad, and it would be such an awesome karma for her. The weight of the Iron Throne would literally be her undoing, and she would die on that chair, as Aegon watches in satisfaction.
That is what this family member told me, and I think it's a pretty great theory as to how her death will come about.
What sort of death are you expecting for Rhaenyra the Cruel?
Thank you for reading!
