Dear Vocal Readers,

Oh, Game of Thrones, it's the show that so many of us know and love. Let's be honest though, everyone has the same basic favorite characters. Don't get me wrong I love Tyrion, Danny, and Jon as much as anyone. However, it feels so boring to have them as my standout character. So, I went ahead and picked the guy that people look at and say, "Wait, what's his name again?" You guessed right, I'm talking about the adorable Podrick Payne!

You are probably shaking your head in disapproval right now but I guarantee you he is one of Game of Thrones' best characters. Want to know why? Here, I'll tell you!

He is truly the best character when it comes down to personalities and actions. Take two seconds to recall something bad or immoral Podrick has done. I bet you can't think of any huh? He is the kindest character in the show who really just wants to be the best squire he can be. He has no ulterior motives behind his actions, he simply wishes to serve and to one day become a knight himself.

What other skills does Podrick have? Oh, I don't know, how about the gift of an amazing voice! The kid can sing, kill, and apparently knows his way with the ladies. There is a theory going around however that believes the real reason why those lovely ladies refused his payment at the brothel was actually because he sang to them (a theory I believe better fits his character and seems like the way cuter option). If that theory isn't true then apparently he has some major skills in the love department which never hurt anyone, especially the women of Westeros.

Want even more reason to love Podrick Payne? How about we take a look at the fact that he was one of few characters to actually survive the show! From wars with humans to fighting white walkers he did it all. Not many characters got the privilege of surviving the series, but he was one of the lucky few. And did you realize that Podrick had been apart of the series since season two?! Yes, the adorable squire only missed out on one season of the show (having a much longer run-time than the first lead character, Ned Stark thank you very much). He's had a full character arc where he went from nothing to something. He made his dreams a reality and became a true knight of Westeros, serving the newest king. He fought hard, trained and stayed loyal until he became what he wanted to be. Good for you Ser Podrick!

Can we also appreciate that this simple squire saved Tyrion's life? I kid you not, if you recall the battle of Blackwater you would remember that Podrick saved Tyrion from getting his whole face chopped in half. Imagine if everyone's favorite "imp" died in season two. The series would be drastically different and we would never have been graced by Peter Dinklage's wonderful performances.

Hopefully now you can see the importance of Pod's character and admire how amazing of a character he is. He was a true ray of hope in the dark world of Westeros and never betrayed who he was nor anyone for that matter. An honest, loyal, sweet, innocent kid was able to survive the show and that is proof enough that he is by far the best Game of Thrones character. And in Tyrion's own words, "There has never lived a more loyal squire."

P.S. He still does not have a Funko and we all need to riot and get him the Pop he deserves!

Sincerely from my Podrick-obsessed mind,

Kacie
