Why is Hollywood Afraid to Kill Off their Characters on Television?
This is one of the biggest problems for final seasons to popular television shows.

The one thing I have been noticing in a lot of television shows when it comes to the final seasons is how many characters are left alive.
I am referring to the types of stories that are meant for killing off their characters.
Such as:
- Game of Thrones
- The Boys
- The Walking Dead
- Stranger Things
I did finish two of these shows so far on the list, and yes, I was one of the few people that personally enjoyed these final seasons, despite the major flaws present in the storyline. However, I was left dumbfounded with how many people were left alive in the final episodes.
Game of Thrones left way too many people alive in the last episode of season 8. A medieval show meant for killing off multiple characters suddenly left a huge chunk of side and main characters alive, and only killed off some of the main characters during the last episodes???
I never thought in a million years fans would be pissed off that their favorite characters weren't dying. Like come on, that zombie battle sequence in the final season should have led to MULTIPLE deaths. I'm not saying that everyone should have died, but man, the plot armor was so obvious for some characters during the fight.
Stranger Things, a show that is about Earth linked to another world full of monsters, decides to leave literally everyone alive in the final season, only killing off the main villain and possibly the main character?
I literally kept expecting a crapload of main character deaths. At least five would have been enough, for this kind of show. I couldn't believe that no one died during that final battle with the main character and the main villain. How did no die when the villain summoned a huge monster to battle the main characters???
The plot armor was so bad in the final episode.
The Walking Dead was constantly dunked on for leaving way too many people alive. I started noticing this problem after season 9. I felt that was one of the best seasons of this show, and there was one episode that didn't hesitate to kill off a large group of characters.
Then once season 10 arrived, I felt that way too many characters were getting close calls instead of actually getting killed. Way too many characters were left alive, to the point that I was getting thrown off with following so many character storylines. Personally, I felt that the majority of them should have gotten killed at some point.
The Boys is another television show that has recently fallen into this same trap. People have been constantly complaining about filler episodes, and from the rumors I heard, I think only one main character bit the dust so far. A show that is known for killing people shouldn't be leaving so many people alive before final episodes.
It's just odd to me. I honestly think Hollywood is afraid of killing off their characters, because they are afraid of getting backlash from their fans. Or they like to save all of the main character deaths before the final episodes, but for most of the time, I'm left disappointed.
We never get enough character deaths during the final seasons.
Look, I'm not saying that we should see some characters in television die for shock value or to kill them for the hell of it, but personally, I feel that if a character's storyline is complete to a certain point, the writers should consider killing them off.
And it's not because we are tired of seeing our favorite characters on screen. It's because some of us fans feel that if we're watching a show where the stakes are meant to be high, surely, we should be getting a couple of main character deaths during the final seasons?
It's my personal opinion, and man, I wish we will one day get a television show that does not give a damn about who dies. I'm so tired of the plot armor, and we honestly hardly ever get a lot of character deaths in so many television shows we love.
