The Joker is no doubt one of the most fascinating characters in all of comic book history. Not only is he the most entertaining but he's also the most mysterious with a backstory that seems to be void. There have been some interpretations in comics and movies but never anything concrete.

DC fans are a mixed bag of emotions this week as a new film has been slated that's having fans Seems like so much hate and shade is being thrown at a movie concept just simply because of the concept itself. Some fans are screaming their frustration at Warner Bros. for the proposed film idea due to the lack of interest in the Joker ever actually having his own origin.

While I can understand this worry as I too prefer the Joker's mysterious origin to stay a mystery, I am actually over the moon about this movie and here's why: This film will NOT be canon, it is simply an interpretation of the Joker's origin for this new specific universe the DC is creating separate from the DCEU. Nothing portrayed in this film will end up being canon for the comics or any other version of the character.

This film is just another answer on The Joker's multiple choice backstory. Tim Burton's version of The Joker's origin was portrayed in the film Batman and in the comics, Alan Moore took his shot at it with The Killing Joke which also got an animated film adaptation. Fans enjoyed those so why wouldn't they enjoy this? Especially with someone like Martin Scorsese on the team?

DC Comics purists need to take a step back off the ledge and realize that they're beloved Clown Prince of Crime will still be without a canon origin and just enjoy the story that will unfold using this amazing character because the possibilities are endless.

The writers will essentially have free range to develop this character and put an interesting backstory behind him. There is no outline to follow or directive that needs to be met when telling this story since there is no actual origin. With Todd Phillips, Scott Silver, and Martin Scorsese bringing the film to life, you have to believe that an amazing story was pitched to Warner Bros. in order to make this movie happen.

This film is sure to be a unique take on the character and give us a Joker we've never seen before and I for one am I going to be anxiously awaiting this story to hit the big screen. I hope DC fans can sit back and enjoy it as well.
