What Will Alicent's Fate be in House of the Dragon?
This is a huge mystery, since she is currently hostage in King's Landing.

The now former queen, Alicent, has now been taken hostage in King's Landing. She was luckily spared by Rhaenyra, since they were once best friends, and she did promise no war once her friend arrived to take over King's Landing and claim the Iron Throne. Alicent attempted to escape with her daughter, but they were unfortunately captured before they get leave the kingdom. She is still living freely in King's Landing with her daughter, who she just realized is now pregnant, but we have no idea who the father is.
I'm sure that it's Aegon, but the possibility of it being someone else would make sense, since Aegon wasn't exactly a good husband to his wife.
Now Alicent is stuck with caring for her daughter, one of her children, and now another one is on the way.
But that is not the least of Alicent's problems right now.
Her father was recently executed by Rhaenyra, since he was a major betrayal to Rhaenyra, for daring to challenge her as heir to the Iron Throne. Alicent did seem shocked by this, but I don't think she really cared. Her father is the reason why she was put in her position as queen, and given a life she exactly never wanted, so I don't really think there was any love lost there.
Her cousin, Ormund Hightower has currently taken over a town called Tumbleton, and he also has her third son, Daeron Hightower, staying with him. Little does she know that Ormund has decided to attempt to turn Daeron into a king, so now her last son could become another brainwashed fool.
Her other two sons are being hunted, such as Aegon and Aemond. She does still take about them, but she does acknowledge that it was her fault that her two sons became monsters. Especially Aemond, who is probably going to become a huge threat in the show.
And her brother, Gwayne Hightower, is stuck with Cole, a scumbag knight that Alicent spend quality time with, and Gwayne and Cole are most likely going to die at some point, since they don't have Aemond and his huge dragon to protect them.
So, what will become of Alicent?
There are two things that could happen to her in the show.
Alicent could be let go by Rhaenyra, along with her daughter and grandchildren.
This is obviously the happy ending for the queen, but I feel that she does deserve this. She has been through so much, and she has admitted to the majority of the war being her own fault, so she 100% deserves to be spared. I picture Alicent living somewhere in the woods or in a small town, to spend her remaining days with her daughter and grandchildren.
Rheanyra could spare Alicent sometime in season 3 or 4, because maybe she will realize that the war is getting worse, and she will want her childhood friend to escape, to be free somewhere else. She has mentioned time and time again that she is merciful to a point, so maybe she would be willing to grant her friend freedom.
Alicent could die along with her remaining family members.
There are two ways that this could go down for Alicent.
She could be killed by someone other than Rhaenyra, due to a moment of one of her allies deciding to kill the former queen and the rest of the Hightowers, as punishment for daring to take away the Iron Throne. I sort of picture Daemon doing this, but I think he would refrain from such an attack, since he is pretty stressed out from telling the queen a huge lie in the last episode.
Or Rhaenyra could become a mad queen and murder her own friend, along with her other family members. Rhaenyra is starting to show a lot of anger and resentment in season 3. She now has the Iron Throne, but she is struggling to control her emotions. Everything is moving too fast for her, and it doesn't help that she has already lost three children. I do picture her going crazy, and ordering the execution of Alicent and the rest of the Hightower family.
Hopefully this won't happen, but House of the Dragon is a pretty dark show, so this is a huge possibility for Alicent getting such a brutal fate. Maybe she will be spared, but I guess we will find out as the show progresses.
