What Is Actually Going on Between Nengi and Mercy Eke.

What caused the bad blood.

If you're like me and you peruse the internet – social media, blogs, Nigerian forums, YouTube, then you will see that for some time now, there have been a number of headlines about Big Brother Naija contestants, Nengi and Mercy Eke.

The two have officially unfollowed themselves on Instagram and clearly, there is bad blood between these two reality stars. But how come? What happened? How did they get here?

Well, if you’re asking yourself these questions and like me you want to know what really happened that brought these two to this point, then you have come to the right place.

Before Nengi Hampson entered into the Big Brother Lockdown house, she and Mercy Eke were on very good terms. In fact, Nengi was rooting for Mercy on her season, a season that Mercy eventually went on to win.

However, when Nengi’s turn came to go into the Big Brother House, the loud support and rallying that Nengi did for Mercy Eke was not reciprocated AT ALL.

Mercy Eke famously took to social media to scream at fans who kept on asking her who her favorite housemate was because according to her, "she was too busy to watch".

Of course, they all thought that given Mercy and Nengi’s history, Mercy’s choice would most certainly be Nengi…but a plot twist happened –

Mercy rallied behind BBNaija housemate, Erica.

She rallied behind her and supported her so much so that when Erica was disqualified from her season, Mercy Eke broke down in actual tears on Instagram.

After the season was over and Nengi came out of the house, Mercy Eke threw a big birthday party that saw A LOT of Big Brother Naija contestants including Erica, Prince, Kiddwaya, Dorathy, Alex, and more show up.

Very visibly missing – Nengi. This got people raising eyebrows once again and it signaled a rift between the two ladies.

Not long after, the news that the two women had unfollowed each other hit the internet.

Mercy Eke took to Snapchat to post a story that reads:

Up and thankful. The first step to failure is competition. Ask around. My head carry undiluted grace. We are not the same, will never be. Pride comes before fall, be humble.

As you can imagine, people took this story as a diss towards Nengi and immediately, Nengi’s fans came flooding with the comments.

The WHY as to what all of this is about has of course not been disclosed by either party, but people are giving their guesses. Below are the two most popular schools of thoughts people have.

1.) People link it to Erica and Tacha.

So this one is kinda interesting and brings more characters into the mix. As I said earlier, Mercy rallied behind Erica while the Big Brother Naija show was still going on. On the other hand, Mercy’s most popular rival, Tacha was rooting for Nengi.

People think that this relationship between Nengi and Tacha may have been boiling Mercy Eke so much so that she no longer wanted to align herself with Nengi.

What is also interesting to note is that Erica and Nengi also no longer follow themselves on Instagram.

2.) Jealousy

The second theory that people have is good ol’ jealousy from Mercy’s part. People say that Mercy might feel like Nengi’s head is getting too big because she has signed on to be in a big movie and has been having her brand moving without Mercy's help. Some people hypothesize that the fact that Nengi is still prospering without Mercy’s help or support might be rubbing Mercy the wrong way and so has fueled jealousy in her heart.

I don’t know exactly why this two women are fighting, but I don’t see what good will ever come from it. Isn’t it better they work together, collaborate, or something? I feel like Mercy and Nengi will be able to appeal to very similar demographics and so should partner up and not fight themselves. At the same time sha, I like drama so let me keep my mouth closed 😂.
