What If Tim Burton Illustrated Superheroes
Russian born Californian based artist Andrew Tarusov considers art and animation as his general occupation.
Russian born Californian based artist Andrew Tarusov considers art and animation as his general occupation. In this series, he imagines superhero caricatures that could've been designed by Tim Burton.
Batman
Slender legs, Kelley Jones style long pointed ears and all-black. Gotham's gothic mythical protector, the Brooding Batman is waiting to deliver some comeuppance.
Captain America
Big eyes, pale face and Matt Salinger style rubber ears. Captain America seems to have lurked deep into Red Skull's pastel coloured Hot Fudge Sundae factory.
Hulk
Misunderstood and meek. Doctor Bruce Banner seems to have awoken a pistachio flavoured beast who kidnaps mischievous kids and steals sheep from cottages nearby.
Deadpool
Eccentric, weird and riddled with too many holes. Deadpool used to specialize in rotisserie at an Old English luncheonette. But now he's a cursed outcast wielding a meat tenderizing knife and accompanied by his detached right arm. Together, they search all the nine realms for the last remaining piece of chimichanga to lift the curse.
Superman
Superman looks like a pre-Raphaelite painting, saving a damsel in distress and all. As to the hairstyle, I will let you sort it out - is it a spit curl or a cowlick?
Wonder Woman
Black locks and pale white face captured in gloomy Victorian photography. Wonder Woman is tasked by the local municipal corporation to keep miscreants and children away from the newly installed green lawns. Her golden lasso makes magical sounds every time she whips it.
Thor
For weeks, Thor stood atop his abandoned 19th century bungalow on the edge of a mountain cliff waiting for lightning to strike a hammer he dug up from his rose garden. Thor, who has been incredulous about the Norse his whole life, is chosen by the All-Father on a particularly dull uneventful morning.
Wolverine
Edward Scissorhands meets Logan in this strange tale about a loner born with strange razor sharp projections. He meets Dr. Seuss and his life is changed forever.
Spider-Man
Freaky, velveteen and skin crawling. Spider-Man approaches the prey stuck in his exquisite yarn of gossamer but wait till he removes the mask.
Ever since I came across the concept art of The Black Cauldron on the internet, I started to follow Tim Burton's work. Here are a few drawings by Tim Burton that will appeal to the dark, macabre and cartoonish fascinations of people like me.
Tarusov's well loved piece of artistry is his vintage style pin-ups and comics. Personally , I like the 'Apocalypse Tomorrow' Pin-up Calendar and everything on this page. Over the years, he has redesigned characters from Disney, Sin City, Game of Thrones, Pokémon, Star Wars and numerous other fandoms. His latest project involved working with Tim Burton himself for the film 'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children'.
If you wish to indulge in some artistic delight, this is the place to be. You can support him on Patreon or fund his Kickstarter project or both.
