Villainess Blown Opportunity(?): Valerie's Heel Turn Has Potential (Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage)

A towing job turns into Georgie facing temptation from a blonde seductress in this Season One episode

Kelli Goss as Valerie

Funny story: I actually had a different Villainess Blown Opportunity story at the front of the line, and don't worry, readers, that is coming. But yeah, I did have a different subject in mind for about a week.

And then, by some miracle, Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage's first season returned to streaming!

After being missing from Paramount+ for the longest time, HBO Max just recently snagged the entire first season of Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage, and I'm guessing that the platform acquired Season One because they are currently airing Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, and they wanted to carry all of the shows from Big Bang universe. As we all know, G&M is the sequel series to Young Sheldon, the series that looked back at Sheldon Cooper's early years as a young prodigy from 1989 on to the early 90s.

Regarding this series, G&M (which premiered on CBS on October 17, 2024, five months after Young Sheldon's final episode), the centerpieces are Sheldon's older brother, George "Georgie" Cooper, Jr. (Montana Jordan) and Amanda "Mandy" McAllister (Emily Osment), mainly their married life that started in the tail end of the previous series. They are also parents to daughter CeeCee (real name Constance, named after Meemaw), and they live with Mandy's parents, Audrey and Jim McAllister, as well as Mandy's brother, Connor McAllister. And while Season One is on HBO Max, Season Two is on Paramount+, and the third season will premiere on October 8, 2026.

So with all of that, on to the subject of this story:

The episode, "A Regular Samaritan," sees Georgie on the job one night, arriving in his tow truck and about to hook up a sports car belong to quite a voluptuous blonde. The woman, named Valerie, is elated for Georgie's appearance, with Georgie noticing Valerie's mentioning of God by referring to her as "one of them" (devout). Valerie asks if Georgie is McAllister, with Georgie correcting her and saying that McAllister's his father-in-law. Valerie's surprised, adding that he looked too young to be married. "Well, when you meet the right woman and get her pregnant, you just know," Georgie replies.

Valerie reveals she's in real estate (that should have been a sign), but says she owes everything to her church, adding that God "wants us all to be prosperous." She invites Georgie to check out her church, and when she appears at the shop to check on her car, Georgie accepts the invite, heading there alone after saying that Mandy won't be able to make it. Georgie drums up business at the church, while Valerie shows him off. Georgie's elated over this, and he does love what the church is selling, but there's one person who has doubts about this whole thing: Mandy. While Mandy had no clue about Valerie, she did point out that Georgie was becoming more and more like his mother. Audrey says all people turn out like their parents, and Mandy's wariness regarding Georgie's business with that church made Mandy realize she's turning into Audrey, which horrified Mandy.

Mandy was on her way to tell Georgie she supports him, all the while, Georgie's at Bible study, which is conducted by Valerie. After it ends, Valerie tells Georgie that her flat tire was no accident, and that God sent Georgie to her. And that's when it happened: Valerie went for it and kissed Georgie, who backed away and said he was married (a fact Valerie knew). It was at that moment that Mandy appeared, decked Valerie, and dragged Georgie out of there.

"You saw me pull away, right?" asked Georgie.

"It's the only reason why you're still standing!" was Mandy's reply.

So yes, Valerie turned heel when she made her move on Georgie. She knew he was married; Georgie mentioned his wife twice, yet she still made her move anyway. Amazing. Before Sheldon Cooper had Ramona Nowitzki after him, Georgie Cooper had Valerie, who was played by Kelli Goss in this episode, "A Regular Samaritan," episode 1.06 of G&M (airdate December 5, 2024). Now, just hitting on a married man and ignoring his mention(s) of his wife by making a move on him doesn't make Valerie an actual villainess. A joke I often tell, as a wrestling fan, is that while a "heel" is supposed to be a villain, "Heels only poke the bear, villains shoot the bear and use its skin as a rug."

Valerie is definitely a heel in that episode, but we could have seen her fully cross into villainess territory. From the moment that she first appeared in that killer black business outfit, I expected Valerie to be portrayed as a cunning villainess who would manipulate Georgie for monetary reasons, but that was not the case. Even so, the episode was still amazing and awesome, and Goss truly acted out Valerie's seductive heel persona perfectly.

Though we wouldn't see Valerie's true evil demeanor in that episode, there are still possibilities for Valerie to resurface. Remember: Valerie's in real estate, and Georgie and Mandy definitely have some plans to take CeeCee and finally get their own place. That quest could see Valerie serve as an obstacle, and we could see Valerie in true scheming villainess mode, maybe attempting to force Georgie into a tryst with her under the threat of ruining the couple's credibility if he doesn't comply. That would be a perfect plot for Season Three, or a Season Four if/when G&M gets renewed again. I did make the comparisons to BBT's Ramona Nowitzki, and while I don't think Ramona could be malicious, I definitely see it in Valerie. The show does have a golden chance to bring Valerie back and boost her from a heel seductress to a conniving and (somewhat) vengeful villainess, and I honestly feel that we will see that happen.

As for Kelli Goss herself, she's done quite a bit; playing Courtney Sloane on The Young and the Restless between 2013 and 2015, recurring as Heather Roth on the Netflix series, The Ranch (which included Heather's murderous heel turn in Season Four, albeit for tragic reasons), and she played Vanessa on the short-lived CBS series, United States of Al.

So yes, that is why I have the question mark next to the "Villainess Blown Opportunity" banner title, because a) I did love seeing Valerie's heel persona in the episode, and b) there is potential and a door could be open for Valerie to return as a villainess in a future episode. Even so, what are your thoughts? Should Valerie have been more over a villainess in her appearance? Will we see a truly evil Valerie return later in the series?
