Top 10

So if you are like me and aren’t really a Valentine’s Day person you might stay in and watch movies instead, even if you are a Valentine’s Day person maybe you are looking for some romantic movies to watch either by yourself or with someone special this week. So here we go. Here are my favorite choices for Valentine’s Day movies. In no particular order…

Dirty Dancing

Now this is kind of an all time romantic movie. It's a classic for a reason and as a ballroom dancer I have a deep appreciation for it every time I watch it. Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray have incredible on screen chemistry and are a delight to watch dance together.

The Notebook

So this one is obvious, but it is a classic and Rachel McAdams is flawless and you should watch anything she’s in ever. McAdams is the millennial Romantic movie queen. Really any Nicholas Sparks movie will do, his movies are heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time and they are all cheesy and amazing.

The Princess Bride

This is the greatest movie of all time, romantic, comedy, action, adventure…it's the all around perfect movie and therefore everyone should be watching it all the time but it is especially perfect for valentines day.

Valentine’s Day

Now if you are going for cheese and camp then this is the movie for you. With an overwhelming amount of celebrities that phoned it in just for this movie we have a film that wanted so badly to be Love, Actually and failed spectacularly but in an entertaining way.

A Knight’s Tale

This one is probably just me but I think it's one of the most romantic stories there is. Most romantic movies get a lot of shit for having manipulative men and submissive women but Jocelyn is strong and in control and William is sweet to her and I just love this movie with my whole heart.

Hitch

One of Will Smith’s many movies but really the reason to watch this is Eva Mendes. It's funny, it's cute and it follows a basic romcom format without it feeling tired. Predictable but in a comfortable way.

Pride and Prejudice

If you want intense and dramatic romance then there is nothing better, now you have the option of the Kiera Knightly version or the BBC version however my recommendation will always be the Kiera Knightly version. Someone on tumblr put it the best; The BBC version is more accurate as an adaptation, script wise but the Kiera Knightly version feels more like Pride and Prejudice in emotion and heart.

The Proposal

More RomCom goodness, nothing better then Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds with a special appearance from Betty White. I like this one because it's a classic “we’re in a fake relationship and it becomes real” kind of story but also Bullock’s character is the protagonist so it turns the trope a little bit.

Another Cinderella Story

Selena Gomez and Drew Seeley, I mean what else do I need to say. Aggressively 2000s outfits, terrible dancing, what more do you need?

Pretty in Pink

Can’t have a Valentine’s Day movie list without Molly Ringwald so I saved the best for last, though most of her movies would work, Pretty in Pink is my favorite. It's wonderfully 80s and Molly is truly incredible.

Bonus option: 10 Things I Hate About You

Yes, yes another Heath Ledger movie but like…it's awesome. This is also a watch anytime all the time kind of movie.

These are my top 10, in no particular order though I do have favorites but those I watch all year and some of these I use Valentine’s Day as an excuse to watch them.
