Y&R sticks it to Doug Davidson again

The powers that be at The Young and the Restless seem to be purposefully or unwittingly trying to get under the skin of Doug Davidson who portrayed Paul Williams on the soap for 40 years. Davidson was fired around the time his milestone should have been acknowledged but his character had a scene where he walked through the gallery of all the accomplishments of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) which some viewers thought was a slap in the face. A few weeks back Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell) was hanging out with her ex Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) and discussing Paul and now Vail Bloom who portrayed the police chief's daughter Heather Stevens is returning to The Young and the Restless after 10 years.

Past characters are returning to Genoa City

Bringing back Danny, Heather, and Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziatti) and mentioning Paul looks bad even if it is not intended to come across that way. Now there are rumors that a character will die between now and March and fans are concerned that The Young and the Restless is going to kill off Davidson's beloved character. This would be a travesty but Davidson says it is"their show." There has never been an official explanation for why the soap vet was fired or why it appears that Y&R execs are out to get him. Fans have complained, written letters sent emails, and have online petitions but no explanation has been given.

Is Paul Williams going to be killed off?

If The Young and the Restless is planning to have Paul die offscreen during the 50-year celebration this will upset loyal viewers and is no way to treat the soap vet. A death no matter which character during the 5-decade observance would be in poor taste and to have Paul die would really anger Davidson's loyal fans. Outside of Eric Braeden who has criticized the powers that be for the way they have treated Davidson none of his other castmates have said a word. Fans want answers because it seems someone is going to a lot of time and trouble to rub Davidson the wrong way.

There are many former cast members that could be brought back for the 50th anniversary but thus far it has been the man Paul's wife used to love and his son who married the police chief's daughter who will soon return with his grandchild. Perhaps this is all coincidence but many who watch The Young and the Restless do not think so.

The Young and the Restless execs should heed the viewers opinions

Lauralee Bell shows up on the rare occasion she is utilized, does her lines and makes no mention of her television husband. During her recent encounters with Danny, it almost seemed as if they wanted to get back together and fans were outraged that it appeared Chris might cheat on Paul. March is not far away so there will surely be other notable returns who have no connection to Paul Williams.

The silence from the top regarding Paul is troubling to many fans of the daytime drama but their cries for justice continue to be ignored. The only thing The Young and the Restless viewers can do is be on the lookout for updates and stay tuned. Be on the lookout for breaking news and spoilers related to the 50th anniversary and what storylines are coming up. It's not looking promising for Doug Davidson fans but Y&R viewers can at least enjoy Lucy and Heather when they return to Genoa City and revolt if Paul is indeed killed off.
