Disney and Pixar have once again brought one of their most iconic animated franchises back to the big screen with Toy Story 5, and this time I experienced it in Hindi 3D. To be honest, the 3D format didn’t feel necessary, and it would have been better if more 2D screenings were available. Still, the film manages to deliver a strong mix of nostalgia, emotion, and a modern-day message that connects with today’s generation.

The Toy Story journey originally began in 1995, and like many viewers, I watched it a few years after its release when I was still young. It was one of the first Hollywood animated films I ever saw, and it instantly created a lifelong emotional connection. The idea that toys have feelings, relationships, and their own hidden world was something truly magical at that time—and even now, that concept hasn’t lost its charm.

With the fifth installment, the story continues from where the previous film left off, focusing again on Bonnie and her evolving relationship with her toys. But what makes this part different is how strongly it reflects the modern world. Today’s children are surrounded by smartphones, tablets, video games, and smart gadgets. The film cleverly highlights how these digital distractions are slowly replacing traditional toys and outdoor imagination.

In the first half, technology is shown almost like a challenge for the toys, creating a sense of emotional distance between children and their physical playthings. However, the second half balances this by showing how both worlds—technology and emotional bonding—can coexist if used wisely. This balance between friendship, imagination, and modern tech is one of the film’s strongest aspects.

That said, I personally felt this installment is more targeted toward children compared to the earlier Toy Story movies. The previous films had a rare quality—they were equally enjoyable for both kids and adults. Adults could relate to the emotional depth, while kids enjoyed the adventure and humor. In Toy Story 5, the storytelling feels slightly more simplified, focusing more on delivering a message for younger audiences.

Still, the emotional core of the film remains intact. The bond between the toys, their loyalty, and their struggle to stay relevant in a changing world still hits the right notes. There are moments that remind you why this franchise became so beloved in the first place.

The Hindi voice acting is also impressive. Most of the characters maintain their original personality through voice performance, and even though Woody’s voice has changed, it doesn’t feel like a major distraction. The emotional tone is still well preserved, and the dubbing overall enhances the viewing experience for Hindi audiences.

One issue I noticed was the pacing. At certain points, the film feels a bit slow, especially in the middle portion. It takes its time to build the message, which may not appeal to viewers expecting a fast-paced animated adventure. However, since the story is told from a child’s perspective, this slower rhythm can be understood.

Overall, Toy Story 5 is not just a continuation of a legendary franchise—it’s also a reflection of how childhood is changing in the digital age. While it may not reach the emotional depth of earlier installments for all viewers, it still offers enough heart and meaning to make it worth watching.

If I had to rate it, I would give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

For fans of the franchise, or anyone who grew up with Woody and Buzz, this film is definitely worth a watch. And if you have kids at home, it also serves as a gentle reminder of the importance of imagination, friendship, and balancing screen time with real-world play.
