As a student, I had a lot of spare time. I also had a boyfriend with a Netflix account, so I spent a lot of time discovering and watching random movies I found on there. I thought I'd share some of the best ones with you, in case you happen to have a spare couple hours and have no clue what to put on.

Minor spoiler Alert for the following: The Babysitter, When We First Met,Alex Strangelove and Set It Up.

'The Babysitter' (2017)

This film is now my favorite horror film. It is a Netflix Original comedy/horror movie that was released in 2017. It stars Judah Lewis and Samara Weaving, as well as stars such as Bella Thorne and Robbie Amell. Judah Lewis plays a 12 year old boy called "Cole" who is the only child in his year who still has a babysitter. She is called "Bee" and is portrayed by Samara Weaving. Cole is afraid of everything. The opening to the film demonstrates this as we see him cowering before a doctor attempting to give him a flu shot. Bee and Cole have an amazing relationship, which was one of my favorite things in the film. They seem to just get each other. Bee makes Cole, a shy, scared kid who continually gets bullied, feel comfortable enough to be himself. They have crazy dance parties, talk about fantasy sci-fi teams and act out movie scenes over a projected movie. It's very cute but I spent the first half an hour of the movie wandering how it was going to get ruined, because it was so sweet that it felt a bit like a high school comedy.

Cole decides to spy on Bee after he is sent to bed. She gives him a shot to conk him out, which he chooses to throw away. Cole then sneaks downstairs to find Bee and a number of her friends playing spin the bottle before it lands on her and she chooses 'dare.' She gets dared to kiss everyone in the circle and after a very disturbing make out scene with Bella Thorne, she makes out with the nerdy kid in the circle before jamming two knives into the poor guy's head. It's lovely. I'm not going to explain why or what happens after this because you need to watch it to discover why the poor, sweet, nerdy guy ends up dying quite a horrific death on the floor of Cole's living room.

It's a great, intense story with some incredible characters. Incredible in intriguing ways also. Cole is intriguing because he's scared yet forces himself to be brave. Bee is intriguing because her motives are continually in question. A number of the spin the bottle participants are a tad psychotic which is interesting. I would highly recommend this film because it is purely character driven, continually and insistently entertaining and has a great ending.

'When We First Met' (2018)

When We First Met is a romantic comedy which was released in early 2018. It stars Alexandra Daddario, Adam DeVine, Robbie Amell and Shelley Hennig. The film is based around a guy named "Noah" who is portrayed by Adam DeVine. Noah is in love with a girl named "Avery" who is portrayed by Alexandra Daddario. He fell in love with her when they first met, but he was placed in the "friend zone", leading to Avery meeting "Ethan" (Robbie Amell) the following day; falling in love with him and subsequently getting engaged to him years later.

Noah gets incredibly drunk at their engagement party and Avery's best friend "Carrie" (Shelley Hennig) is forced to drive him home. They end up in a bar before Noah grabs a pile of quarters and heads into this old photo booth in the corner. He puts in a coin then wakes up on the day he first met Avery. He then starts changing things. Redoing the day then waking up back in the present to deal with the consequences.

I'm a sucker for time travel movies so I'm probably a little biased here. The characters in this movie are incredible. They were all sweet, funny and the friendships and relationships formed were wonderful. I would highly recommend this film, as it is one of those movies that just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

'Alex Strangelove' (2018)

Alex Strangelove is a 2018 comedy-drama movie based around a high school senior guy named, Alex Truelove. (Daniel Doheny) He met his girlfriend "Claire" (Madeline Weinstein) in freshman year and they quickly became best friends. After Claire's mother was diagnosed with cancer, he comforted her and they started dating. After eight months, they still hadn't had sex and supposedly, it was because Alex kept putting on the breaks when Claire came onto him.

I'm not going to explain the reason because part of the reason I absolutely adore this movie, is how I knew pretty much nothing about it before watching it. I will just say that the "drama" part of the genre has something to do with Alex meeting a guy named "Elliott" (Antonio Marziale) at a party and discovering something about himself.

Alex, Claire and Elliott are all incredibly wonderful characters. Claire, especially in fact. Claire is so kind and even when things go wrong with her and Alex, she still loves him and wants him to be happy even if it hurts her. This is another one of those movies that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside and I would highly recommend it.

'Set It Up' (2018)

This is a romantic comedy movie based around two executive assistants working in the same building in New York City. "Harper" (Zoey Deutch) and "Charlie" (Glen Powell) are both severely overworked and spend pretty much every night in their offices, collecting and doing things for their bosses. Before Harper comes up with an idea.

She drags Charlie into helping her set her boss "Kirsten" (Lucy Liu) up with his boss "Rick" (Taye Diggs) in order to get them more free time. Kirsten and Rick fall in love and go out on dates whilst Charlie and Harper continually control them from behind the scenes. It's a wonderfully funny film with some great characters and amazing settings. I loved every second of it and I'd highly recommend it.
