Whether you're a spiritual seeker, a self-help junkie, or just love media that inspires, here are 5 entertaining, interesting, and not so obvious choices to watch. They all offer uplifting new perspectives on growing and expanding your consciousness....and they're all on Netflix.

Let's count down:

5. Merlin - This is a very interesting take on the story of King Arthur and Camelot. The series begins with a young Prince Arthur serving under his father, King Uther, who has made magic punishable by death. Merlin is a young rogue who accidentally becomes Arthur's servant. He has to conceal his magic while making sure Arthur rises to power and hopefully restore magic as permissible throughout the land. This show will open the hearts and minds of all of you who believe in magic. It earns the #5 spot because we all need to be reminded that there is magic all around us and that it is not magic that is evil, but what is in the hearts of men that creates either good or evil.

4. Always Be My Maybe - This is not your ordinary romantic comedy. While quite hilariously funny with an undeniably comedic scene with Keanu Reeves playing himself, it also takes a look at modern relationships and success. It's no Hallmark movie where the woman moves to a small town and gives up her career in the big city because she's found true love with the local country boy. Instead, the heroine, Sasha Tran, played by Ali Wong, is the successful go-getter and the male lead, Marcus Kim, played by Randall Park, has to decide whether to play it small or stand beside her as an equal and supporter. It's funny, fresh, and great for a movie night. It earns the #4 spot because it is the first romantic comedy to place a woman in a place of owning her true power and worth without apology.

3. Trevor Noah, Son of Patricia - Anyone who makes us laugh is spreading more consciousness on the planet. Trevor Noah's special "Son of Patricia" certainly fits the bill of making one laugh. A South African immigrant, Noah has a unique and intelligent look at today's world with regards to race, politics, and other hot topics. His humour is delightful, thought-provoking, and takes a non-threatening approach to otherwise heavy topics that opens minds and leads to conversation instead of conflict. It is a wonderful watch. If you need a laugh, this is the show to see, which is why Son of Patricia has earned the #3 spot.

2. Lucifer - Do not let the name of the program scare you. Yes, it is about Lucifer, aka the devil, but the show is not about being good or bad or right or wrong. It is more about how our choices and actions create our circumstances. It certainly makes clear that we are the owner of our choices and that the devil does not make you do anything. Lucifer, played by Tom Ellis, is actually an archangel fallen from heaven and his dad, God, has tasked him to rule the underworld. Lucifer has grown bored of his job and has gone to Los Angeles (the city of Angels), to see what human life is like. He soon realises he has "daddy issues" and begins seeing a therapist. He also becomes intrigued by an LA Detective, played by Lauren Graham, who makes him look at his life differently. He then begins helping her solve crimes. We quickly see the true nature of Lucifer which is not evil but instead truthful. His one quirk: he cannot tell a lie. All in all it is a brilliant insight into the world of good, evil, judgment, and truth which is why it gains the #2 spot in this list.

1. Queer Eye - On the surface, Queer Eye may appear to be just 5 gays guys doing a makeover on a new person each week, but it is so much more than that. The Fab 5, Jonathan, Antoni, Tan, Bobby, and Karamo, are the embodiment of pure joy and inclusion. They bring each person they work with from a place of self-doubt to owning their unique selves and help them to express their true gifts. It is quite possibly the kindest, most uplifting, and most joyful real TV available. For this, it earns the #1 spot of unexpected and inspirational things to watch on Netflix.

Again, if you're looking for something to watch that's uplifting, unique, and inspiring any of these five choices has the ability to expand, stretch, and delight you. Enjoy!
