While we know they need the money, the blatant product placement and anime can sometimes get out of hand.

We know that animating our favorite shows takes a lot of money, but do they have to be so obvious where it comes from? Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the "Top 5 Blatant Product Placement in Anime."

For this list we’ll be looking at those moments in shows where the products are a little too noticeable among our favorite characters. No misspelled or "just close enough" logos allowed—we’re looking for shows that were slave to the almighty dollar.

Sana has spent nearly her whole life in a lab thanks to her so called “Dream of Alice” powers and is still learning what the real world is like. This sweet "fish out of water" story seems like the perfect place to slip in some product placement in the background with little notice. But when characters take the time to mention how good they are or that they want to buy more, then it becomes pretty obvious what is actually going on. Funny, we’re suddenly craving a hamburger and maybe something sweet, like Snickers bar…

#4: Sony Xperia “Persona 5: The Animation” (2018)

In this seemingly normal world of corrupt adults, this unassuming group of teenage friends have a secret weapon—a parallel universe accessible through their phones—hey, wait a minute! The concept of the Metaverse where they become Phantom Thieves and steal the corrupt hearts is at the center of this popular anime, and video games’, plot. Which means they get plenty of chances to show of these flashy Xperia models. We honestly can’t help but wonder, will the mysterious app show up if we upgrade?

The ultimate battle against the murderous Kira is about to unfold and you can expect a lot of stands, fantastical fights, and a very noticeable billboard advertising a well known brand of soda. Wait? Pepsi? Well, whether you prefer diet or regular, we can at least all agree that some drinks are going to be needed after all those epic poses. And this is not the first time they’ve done it, as Dio was obviously quite fond of that 7 Up logo in the classic OVA!

There are few things anime does better than a mecha anime with a thrilling political plot. Add in a masked figure, a mysterious space girl and the character designs of CLAMP and you have Code Geass. Now all we need is a mascot—perfect! Except that cute yellow creature she’s hugging is not from this show—he’s the Japanese mascot for Pizza Hut and can be found in many of their commercials. And lets not get started at the copious amounts of pizza featured in this show!

To be honest, we’re not sure where to even start with this one. In the distant future, being a hero and having superpowers are the subject of popular reality style shows, with each hero proudly displaying their corporate sponsors as they battle for points and take down the bad guys. From decals on outfits reminiscent of racecars, and full on promotional commercials before joining the fray, this series has turned product placement into an art. Blatant yes, but let's be honest, if heroes existed in our world, this is exactly how companies would jump into the fray.
