As such, you can rightfully claim these shows as your own and help make them a thing. Here is a short list of unknown or underrated TV shows that you should give a try.

The Bold Type

The Bold Type is precisely an American comedy-drama inspired by the life of the former Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief Joanna Coles. Featuring a strong female lead the series centers on three best friends Jane (Katie Stevens), Kat (Aisha Dee), and Sutton (Meghan Fahy) who all work for Scarlet, a global women's magazine.

The show centers on their adventures live in New York City as they learn to find their own voices and explore their sexuality, identity, love, and fashion. The series premiered with a two-hour episode on July 2017, on Freeform and it was renewed for two additional seasons, each with ten remarkable episodes.

This spectacular show features many controversial topics that we face today like gun violence, and even promoting body positivity and breaking the idea of what a woman should look like in the 21st century.

Mainstream issues our society copes with today, taking part in this series. With an exceptional cast, great storyline and a new adventure with every new episode, The Bold Type takes the win home.

Everything Sucks

Remember what the 1990s were like for teens? Well, this show unquestionably does justice. The comedy-drama Everything Sucks imitates the teen culture of the mid-1990s.

The series is set in the real-life town of Boring Oregon, in 1996, and centers on a group of teenagers who attend the fictional Boring High School.

They proceed with making a movie together while coping with relatable issues such as exploring their sexualities, mental health, and growing up. Luke O'Neil, a freshman at Boring High, alongside with his best friends, McQuaid, and Tyler Bowen form part of the A/V club.

Where Luke starts crushing on Kate Messner, the principal's dear daughter and a sophomore at Boring High. Meanwhile, Kate starts to question her sexuality and develops a crush on drama student Emaline Addario, who is dating partner drama student Oliver Schermerhorn. But after frequent rumors of her being gay spread around the school, Kate started dating Luke.

The show remarkably wonderfully represented the awkward phase of teenage years, and it adds extra flavor with the 90s vibes to it. The show, unfortunately, got canceled after season one but hopefully, Netflix will reconsider and possibly pick up the series where they left off.

Big Mouth

The American adult animated sitcom series Big Mouth bases on friends Nick Birch and Andrew Glouberman 7th graders who carefully navigate their way through puberty.

During the series, the kids relate to people and familiar objects who are personified in one way or another and offer helpful, but confusing, advice in their puberty-filled lives including the ghost of Duke Ellington, a Statue of Liberty and a pillow capable of getting pregnant.

In their mishaps, the two boys try learning everything there is to know about growing up and love, all while under the spell of the Hormone Monster. The first season consisted of ten memorable episodes that premiered on Netflix on September 2017.

The animated series was renewed, we wore able to feast on more of the enjoyable yet corky show. The series was co-created by successful comedian Nick Kroll, Family Guy writer Andrew Goldberg, writer Jennifer Flackett and screenwriter Mark Levin. The series also the female part of adolescence as well, and even bring up LGBT issues, disability, and religion.
