Thor: Love and thunder

We're eagerly awaiting the next Thor film to be released in cinemas. Marvel people who've marked and re-marked shifting release dates in their calendars need to get the Tippex back...

However, before we dive into what will be Thor: Love and Thunder (aka Thor 4) delays, however, we do confirm that it's going to be the biggest MCU crossover in Phase 4. It is also the first time that a Marvel hero will be able to have four independent films.

While we're waiting for that fourth movie, Thor star Chris Hemsworth hasn't ruled out being a part of further Thor adventures following Love and Thunder. It's a long way off, but right now, it's Thor: Love and Thunder we're focused on.

Love and Thunder reunites Hemsworth with director Taika Waititi and, more excitingly, Natalie Portman's Jane Foster. Let's have a look at what we have known about Thor: Love and thunder.

When will Thor: Love and Thunder hit the theaters?

At the time it was announced that the phase 4 schedule was initially made public, Thor: Love and Thunder was scheduled for release on November 5, 2021.

However, after Black Widow was delayed by a week, the other Phase 4 movies were delayed by a release time and it was decided that the final Thor movie had to be delayed until February 18th, 2022. Then we heard positive news, and the release was delayed by one week to February 11, 2022.

Then it was postponed to May 6th, 2022, and again to July 8th, 2022. This time, it will take Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's position. The cause for the Phase 4 release date change has yet to be revealed, and all we can do now is pray that this is the final date change for these films.

Who's in the cast of Thor 4: Love and Thunder?

Of course, Chris Hemsworth is back as Thor. However, the most exciting thing is that Natalie Portman is back as Jane Foster. She'll not be your typical Jane, but she'll be the Mighty Thor, and yes, she'll be able to use Mjolnir.

"She does have powers. It's not the same as Thor-it's her own version of it," Portman revealed. It is the first major Portman MCU performance in the MCU since Thor: The Dark World in 2013, and while she was in footage from Jane as a character in Avengers: Endgame, she only gave new dialogue to the re-purposed footage of The Dark World.

Following Thor's departure into space with the Guardians of the Galaxy in Avengers: Endgame, Tessa Thompson returns as Valkyrie in her new post as the commander of New Asgard. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has stated that Valkyrie will be one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's very first LGBTQ superheroes.

Although Thompson has always been Valkyrie to be bisexual she is only 'canonically' bi beginning with Thor 4 onwards, meaning that Eternals actually assume the role of being the first LGBTQ+ hero despite the MCU changing her sexual orientation.

Thompson has some good news for Valkyrie fans too, we shouldn't see her go anytime soon.

Christian Bale will portray the fourth film's "villain," according to Kevin Feige, who confirmed the character of Gorr the God Butcher in December 2020.

Vin Diesel has already revealed that the Guardians of the Galaxy will have a role in the fourth film in some way, and suspicions that Chris Pratt will reprise his role as Star-Lord was verified by... Chris Pratt makes a spoiler-related blunder.

The other characters in the Guardians family are Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Dave Bautista as Drax, Sean Gunn as Kraglin as well as Vin Diesel as Groot.

The other returning character is Jaimie Alexander. In the role of Jaimie Alexander, she will be playing Lady Sif, who has previously revealed that she was still in love with Asgard. It's likely that Jeff Goldblum will be in Thor 4 too, hinting at a return in the role of Grandmaster.

Along with Sam Neill and Luke Hemsworth, who portrays Loki, Odin, and Thor, Matt Damon is reprising his role as an Asgardian thespian. Melissa McCarthy, who plays Hela, is a newcomer to the theatre ensemble.

Russell Crowe appears in a cameo as Zeus, while singer Jenny Morris appears in an unclear character. Other cast members who will be returning include Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Mark Ruffalo as Professor Hulk. However, the only one we're certain regarding is the fact that Waititi will once again be the voice of fan-favorite Korg.

In spite of Heimdall having passed away, Idris Elba is a possible returner. "Listen, Heimdall is essentially part of the god family. So you know, he essentially could be alive. I'm just saying! I'm just putting it out there, "Elba declared.

Stellan Skarsgard hasn't ruled out reprising his role as Dr. Erik Selvig, especially now Natalie Portman is returning. "I haven't heard from them. But I wouldn't mind, "he stated.

"I had a four-film agreement, and two of them were utilized for Thor movies and two for the Avengers," he added, adding that Jane's friends should also return: "Me and Kat Dennings, too." We made a great team."

Dennings, however, has stated she's pretty certain she's not returning. Dennings declared: "I don't think I'm involved in the game. I'm sure I'd have heard it by now. Therefore, my answer is"I have no idea, and I have the same idea as I had prior to."

The Plot:

With the debut of Mighty Thor in the MCU, Waititi has revealed that his inspiration for the film came from the Marvel Comics series The Mighty Thor by Jason Aaron and artist Russell Dauterman.

"That storyline is incredible. It's full of emotion, love and thunder and introduces for the first time a female Thor," he said.

Portman was seen confirming that the film would have Jane's cancer storyline from the comics. "She's going through cancer treatment and is a superhero on the side," she stated.

Waititi has revealed that there will be a romance that could see the return of Thor as well as Jane. The film will also dive into the background of Korg, a fan favorite.

Apart from that, Thompson indicated that Valkyrie would be reconstructing Asgard and "re-investing in her people," whereas Hemsworth seems clueless about what Thor has been up to since joining the Guardians: "He could be on the couch at this time."

James Gunn's declaration that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 occurs following Thor: Love and Thunder complicates the situation, raising the issue of when Thor departed the Guardians to embark on his own journey.

Thor is likely to mention the film in Love and Thunder, as well as make a brief appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. However, this is unsubstantiated speculation.

Are there really any multiverse hijinks in this film, like there are in earlier Phase 4 films like Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man: No Way Home? According to one notion, Loki might still appear in the fourth film despite his death.
