The Rise Of Bimini Bon Boulash

They May Have Lip Synched For Their Life In The First Episode, But They're Cooking Now

"Release the beast - #Bimini!"

I don't know where #BiminiBonBoulash has been in my life since I first started watching any iteration of #RuPaulsDragRace a few years ago, but they're definitely not wasting time during their stint on #DragRaceUK now.

They were part of the lip sync at the end of the first episode of Drag Race UK, and some might argue justifiably so, given the judges could even see the tape they used for their tuck that episode. It would appear lessons have been learned and applied since then. They have won two RuPeter badges on their own and one as a part of a group challenge, and she appears to show no signs of slowing down as Drag Race UK rockets towards its finale in Episode 10.

She's won me over, though, since her appearance as part of the #UnitedKingdolls in #UKHun, which peaked at number one on the British iTunes charts and peaked at 27 on Official Charts. They were fierce, fun, and a skilled dancer to boot. During the UK version of #SnatchGame, their portrayal of #KatiePrice was hysterical, and I find myself saying, "The eyes are the nipples of the face," in an affected British accent just to make my girls laugh. They get the joke, given they, too, are fans of Drag Race UK.

What I really enjoy about #BiminiBonBoulash, though, is their open, honest discussions about what it means to be non-binary and how it's so important to embark on that journey to self-acceptance. They know they have gotten people talking about their performance and what they have said about being non-binary, and whether it's negative or positive, it appears that they welcome the dialogue.

She also appears to have fun teasing her appearances and performances on upcoming Drag Race UK appearances, at one point asking those on their social media feeds to wonder how many times they would pout in the next episode. Their runways are creative, fun and even a little bit daring. Their looks challenge the conventional, which I think is one of the most exciting parts of being a drag queen. Their strut across the runway as an amoeba during the prehistoric runway was amazing, and it would be hard to deny just how cool they looked that day.

They also seem to be surprised by the amount of attention coming their way as a result of her run on Drag Race UK.

"Oi I just hit 400k on Instagram and I’m like WTF is going on," they tweeted. They also seem delighted by the attention from queens like #Katya, who has tweeted her appreciation for Bimini a number of times, responding, "MISS ZAMOLODCHIKOVA IF U PLEASE," when Katya tweeted a sexy video saluting just how awesome Bimini is, saying, "Her name’s not Baby, it’s Bimini. Bon Boulash if you’re nasty."

There's no surprise to see Bimini climb the ranks of the queens of this season, and while there are still a couple of episodes left in this series of Drag Race UK, there is no denying that Bimini has become this powerhouse that has come to dominate.

I loved when she acknowledged what the stand up challenge win did for her. They admitted that having a third win meant a great deal to them, particularly since they had to lip sync to stay in the first episode, and even Ru Paul voiced her admiration for how far Bimini had come since that first shaky start. They are showing they are a true force to be reckoned with, and the fact that they are continuing to be a voice for those non-binary or genderfluid individuals is equally powerful.

There is now a top four of Bimini, #LawrenceChaney, #Tayce, and #EllieDiamond, and given how hard Bimini has dominated particularly over the last few episodes, Bimini is in prime position to snatch the crown. While the other queens are quite strong, here's hoping Bimini can win it all.
