The Raja Saab Ending Explained: Kanakaraju’s Dark Secret, Hypnosis and Circus 1935 Sequel Twist
Prabhas enters a haunted mansion searching for his missing grandfather, but discovers a terrifying family secret involving black magic, hypnosis and a supernatural battle.

This article contains major spoilers for The Raja Saab, including the climax and sequel setup.
Prabhas’ The Raja Saab combines horror, fantasy, comedy and family drama in a story built around a mysterious grandfather, a haunted mansion and a curse that has affected one family for years.
Directed by Maruthi, the film stars Prabhas alongside Sanjay Dutt, Zarina Wahab, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar and Boman Irani. The movie was released theatrically on January 9, 2026.
But behind its colourful comedy and romance is a much darker story.
Why Does Raja Search for His Grandfather?
Raja lives with his grandmother Ganga Devi, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. Although many of her memories have disappeared, she continues to remember her missing husband, Kanakaraju.
Seeing his grandmother constantly waiting for him, Raja decides to find out what really happened to his grandfather.
His search eventually takes him to Hyderabad and later toward an isolated mansion connected to Kanakaraju.
What Raja initially believes is a simple missing-person mystery soon becomes something supernatural.
Kanakaraju’s Dark Secret
Kanakaraju is not the innocent missing grandfather everyone initially believes him to be.
The truth about his past goes back to Ganga Devi’s royal family.
Kanakaraju had used black magic, hypnosis and mind-control techniques to manipulate Ganga Devi. After being humiliated, his hunger for power and revenge grew even stronger.
He successfully manipulated Ganga Devi into believing false events and destroyed her ability to understand what had really happened around her.
Eventually, Raja discovers that Kanakaraju is already dead.
The terrifying presence inside the mansion is actually Kanakaraju’s spirit, which continues using supernatural powers and psychological manipulation.
What Happens Inside the Haunted Mansion?
Raja enters Kanakaraju’s mansion with his companions, but the building works almost like a giant psychological trap.
Reality becomes difficult to separate from illusion.
Kanakaraju can manipulate what people see and experience, meaning Raja cannot simply defeat him through physical strength.
This is where Dr. Padmabhushan, played by Boman Irani, becomes important. His understanding of the human mind gives Raja clues about fighting an enemy whose greatest weapon is psychological control.
However, even Padmabhushan is unable to defeat Kanakaraju directly.
Raja eventually understands that if Kanakaraju controls his mind, then the battle must also be fought inside the mind.
The Raja Saab Climax Explained
Kanakaraju launches his most dangerous attack by targeting Raja through his love for Ganga Devi.
He manipulates events surrounding Raja’s grandmother, whose health deteriorates while Raja remains trapped inside Kanakaraju’s supernatural world.
Instead of continuing to fight according to Kanakaraju’s rules, Raja begins creating his own mental reality.
He imagines Ganga Devi once again as the powerful queen she was meant to be.
That emotional connection gives Raja the strength to resist his grandfather’s hypnosis.
From that moment, the power balance begins to change.
Kanakaraju creates terrifying illusions and obstacles, but Raja is finally able to recognise that much of what he sees is designed to control his fear.
By using his own mind against the hypnotist, Raja breaks through Kanakaraju’s psychological grip and defeats him.
Why Does Ganga Devi Forget Kanakaraju?
One of the most meaningful moments arrives after the supernatural battle.
For years, even while suffering from Alzheimer’s, Ganga Devi continued remembering Kanakaraju.
But after Raja finally breaks his influence, she no longer remembers him.
Symbolically, this suggests that Kanakaraju’s control over her has finally ended.
Raja later prays that his grandfather’s soul may finally find peace rather than continuing the cycle of anger, greed and revenge.
What Does the Ending Mean?
Raja may have defeated Kanakaraju, but the supernatural story is clearly not finished.
The movie ends by setting up another chapter titled:
RajaSaab 2: Circus 1935
The title strongly suggests that the next film could explore events from the past and reveal more about the origins of the supernatural powers and the family curse.
Another mysterious visual involving a strange Raja-like figure also leaves questions about whether something darker survived the events of the mansion.
Final Thoughts
At its core, The Raja Saab is not simply about a hero fighting a ghost.
The real battle is about control of the mind.
Kanakaraju becomes powerful by controlling what other people believe is real. Raja wins only when he stops accepting the reality created for him and begins controlling his own thoughts.
The ending closes Kanakaraju’s story while deliberately opening the door to a much larger supernatural mystery.
And with RajaSaab 2: Circus 1935 already teased, Raja’s strangest adventure may still be ahead.
