If you're looking for a show with romance, Comedy, drama and sassiness ,All wrapped into one. Then pose will be the perfect show to start binge watching. It's a tale of a young ,Hispanic trans women in the heart of Harlem New York city, Looking to make her mark on the Ball room scene as a house mother. What is Ball room and a house mother you ask?. Well ballroom is a special place were the LBGTQ community (usually gay men and trans women.)meet to battle each other and support one another through a dance style called Vouging . This show also really captures what it is like to be a gay man or a trans woman in the 8o's. The gay community has impacted the culture for many years now through fashion, lingo and dancing and the show highlights that. I feel the lesson is this series is to always live in your truth no matter what anyone thinks. I feel like in this day and age we need a message like that more than ever. Society is constantly telling us what to be and how to look it can be easy lose yourself. I look at some one the characters and say wow I wish I could be that comfortable with myself. Even having this show on a major TV network is inspiring within itself . Just a few years ago LBGTQ based shows were really show on regular cable. I feel like this show is a step forward to having more diversity on TV and that is a beautiful thing to see.

You will have a unique love for each character as you follow them in their journey in trying to thrive and survive in the world. I resonate with Blanca the main character the most. She is resilient and even though life has not always been the best to her. she still has a big heart. She is a mother figure to her house children which are other lost souls from ballroom .That she has decided to take into her home. Even as a straight cis gender black woman in my late 20's, I can relate to each character in some way, shape or form. I think the most unique part about this series is that anyone can enjoy and relate . No matter your race ,sexual orientation, gender or background. This show hits on real life issues that anyone could or have experienced . Such as feeling like an outcast, discrimination, HIV, heartbreak, broken friendships, dealing with grief and love. This show also shows how special but tough being a woman is in society ran by men can be . I think any woman can attest to that!.

This show may seem a little heavy on the heart but trust me there are plenty on moments that will lighten the mood and put a smile on your face. You will definitely be laughing throughout the season with characters like pray-tell the Host of the Balls and a staple in the ballroom community. With his witty jokes and tell it like it is personality. Elektra will have you laughing and gasping at her crazy but funny attics ,and Candy will have you have you saying wow what will she do next.

Angel is the gorgeous girl but doesn't feel like she is good enough. Her dream is become a super model. Angel brings a special kind of sassiness to the show and you will love it. Damon is the youngest in the house and is trying to follow his dream as a professional dancer. He ends up falling for A cute bad boy name Ricky and we all know how that ends right?

You will also get nostalgia feels with the music in this series. All 80's classic. This show has definitely made me a bigger fan of the 80's . A special musical duet between Blanca and prey-tell will have you crying and singing along at the same time. There are so many beautiful and moving moments in this show that will live in your head and heart rent free forever. I give this show all tens!
