The Paternal Roots of Actress Angela Kinsey

Actress Angela Kinsey was born June 25th, 1971 in Lafayette, Louisiana to Billy Kinsey and Bertie Duke. When Angela was two years old, her family moved to Indonesia for her father’s job as a drilling engineer and they lived their for twelve years. The family would eventually move back to the United States and lived in Archer City, Texas. Kinsey graduated from Baylor University with a degree in English in 1993 and would then go to intern on Late Night with Conan O’Brien.

After leaving Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Angela moved to Los Angeles where she took classes with the improv groups the Groundlings and Improv Olympic. Kinsey would then make appearances on two episodes of King of the Hill as the character Angela. Shortly after, Angela auditioned for the American version of The Office where she played her most notable character Angela Martin.

Angela now hosts the podcast the Office Ladies with former castmate Jenna Fischer.

Angela’s Father

Billy Kinsey was born July 26th, 1935 in Buffalo Springs, Texas to Finis Lee Kinsey and Lena Mae Kuykendall. Billy married Bertie Duke on June 4th 1955 in Houston, Texas when he was 20 years old. During his life, he worked as a drilling engineer which took him to Louisiana, Texas, and Indonesia. Billy died on July 30th, 2014 at age 79 in Witchita Falls, Texas. During his life with Bertie, they had four daughters together named Billie Joe, Janet, Tina, and Angela.

Angela’s Paternal Grandparents: Finis Kinsey and Lena Mae Kuykendall

Finis Kinsey was born on December 17th, 1912 in Bellevue, Texas to John Vestal Kinsey and Bertha Allmond. Lena Mae Kuykendall was born on August 15th, 1917, in Clay County, Texas to Theodore Kuykendall and Sarah Elizabeth Harvey. Finis and Lena married on October 20th, 1934 in Clay, Texas when Finis was 21 and Lena was 17. According to the 1940 United States Census, Finis and Lena were living in Jack, Texas with their son Billy and Carl. At the time, Finis was working as a farm manager and Lena was a housewife. Two years later, Finis registered for the draft as the United States entered into World War Two. At the time Finis was listed as being 6'1, weighing 161 lbs, and had blue eyes and brown hair.

Finis died on May 6th, 1992 at age 79 in Archer City, Texas. Lena Mae died January 9th, 2018 at age 100 in Archer City, Texas and they are now both buried in the Archer City Cemetery.

Paternal Great-Grandparents: John Vestal Kinsey and Bertha M Allmond

John Vestal Kinsey was born October 3rd, 1878 in Buffalo Springs, Texas to Carroll Columbus Kinsey and Mary L MacDonald. Bertha M Allmond was born in 1885 in Texas to parents whose names are unknown. On September 12th, 1918 as the United States was entering into World War One, John registered for the draft when he was 39 years old his wife Bertha is listed as being his next of kin.

According to the 1920, 1930, and 1940 United States Federal Censuses, John and Bertha were living on their own farm in Bellvue, Texas where they raised their five children, Robert, John, Finis, Hattie, and Oressa. Bertha died on May 19th, 1947 at age 62 in Witchita Falls, Texas. John died on January 21st, 1956 in Jack County, Texas at age 77. They are now buried in Friendship Cemetery in Clay County, Texas.

Paternal Great-Grandparents: Theodore Kuykendall and Sarah Elizabeth Harvey

Theodore Kuykendall was born December 31st, 1893 in Montague, Texas to James Monroe Kuykendall and Ella Yearwood. Sarah Elizabeth Harvey was born November 25th, 1897 in Texas to Alexander Parsons Harvey and Catherine Elizabeth Warren. Theodore and Sarah married in 1916 in Montague, Texas when Theodore was 23 and Sarah was 19. On June 5th, 1917, Theodore registered for the draft when he was 23 years old. At the time, Theodore and Sarah lived in Henrietta, Texas.

Although it is unknown if Theodore was drafted, it is known that he did live beyond World War One and can be found in the 1930 United States Federal Census. On this census, the Kuykendalls are listed as owning their own farm in Clay County, Texas on a street that didn't have a name.

On April 27th, 1942, Theodore registered for the draft as the United States entered into World War Two. At the time, he is still listed as working as a farmer in Texas.

Theodore and Sarah lived in Archer City, Texas for the rest of their lives until Theodore's death on May 2nd, 1979 at age 85 and Sarah's death on May 28th, 1980 at age 82 where she died of organic brain syndrome according to her death certificate.

Paternal 2x Great-Grandparents: Carroll Columbus Kinsey and Mary L McDonald

Mary L McDonald was born on May 4th, 1853 in Alabama to parents whose names are unknown. Carroll Columbus Kinsey was born April 22, 1855, in Missouri to William Kinsey and Pernesa Hubble. Carroll and Mary married on November 21st, 1875 in Hopkins, Texas when Carroll was 20 and Mary was 22. From 1900 to 1910, Carroll is listed as working as a farmer in Clay County, Texas where the Kinsey's owned their own farm. By 1920, Carroll began working as a public weigher in Texas. In this job, Carroll would have been appointed by the Governor to weigh cotton, wool, and hydes in areas around Texas. Mary died on November 19th, 1927 at age 74 and Carroll died June 2nd, 1940 in Texas.

2x Great-Grandparents: James Monroe Kuykendall and Ella Yearwood

James Monroe Kuykendall was born April 2nd 1870 in Texas to William Carroll Kuykendall and Elizabeth Jane McAnear. Ella Yearwood was born January 9th, 1875 in Texas to George Franklin Yearwood and Josephine Walton. James and Ella married on January 3rd 1892 in Texas when Ella was 17 and James was 22. By 1900, James and Ella were living in Forestburg, Texas with their children, Lillian, Theodore, Claudia, James, and Zula. James died on May 21st, 1966 at age 96 in Texas. Ella died less than two months later on July 17th, 1966 at age 91 in Texas. They are now buried together at Hardy Cemetery in Hardy, Texas.

3x Great-Grandparents: William Carroll Kuykendall and Elizabeth Jane McAnear

William James Kuykendall was born December 14th, 1828 in Alabama to Isaac Kuykendall and Sarah Smith. Elizabeth Jane McAnear was born June 16th, 1834 in Clarksville, Texas to Alexander McAnear and Elizabeth Blanton. William and Elizabeth married on January 29th, 1853 in Red River, Texas when William was 24 and Elizabeth was 18. During the outbreak of the American Civil War, William and Elizabeth were living in Texas which was a state that became part of the confederacy. William joined the confederate army as part of 14th Regiment of the Texas Cavalry, also known as Johnson’s Mounted Volunteers. William began serving as a private and was part of this regiment for the duration of the war. This unit fought at the Battle of Stones River, the Battle of Nashville, and the Battle of Allatoona. William survived the war and returned home to Texas. William died on May 27th, 1903 in Forestburg, Texas at age 74. Elizabeth died May 18th, 1911 in Forestburg, Texas at age 76. They are both buried in Hardy Cemetery in Hardy, Texas.
