The Lord Of The Rings Review

The first time I read Master Tolkien was The Silmarillion - I'm a bit of a nerd -, the reason I read this book first was because I wanted to start with 'the beginning of everything', sorry for the redundancy. To tell the truth, reading it was not easy at all, the language, all the names, the members of the elven families, the dwarves and etc... Then, I read The Hobbit and many things began to fit into the story, everything It fit perfectly and now, finally reading The Fellowship of the Ring, everything falls into place.

Three rings for the Elven Kings under the sky.

Seven for the Dwarf Lords in houses of stone.

Nine for the mortal men doomed to die.

in the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

A ring to govern them all. A Ring to find them.

One Ring to draw them all and bind them in the darkness

in the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Many people believe that the book is very heavy because of all the features it has and the truth is that if you have a base in Tolkien's literature, for example with the most recommended one, The Hobbit, everything flows. If you don't have it, reading at the beginning - only at the beginning - may be heavy for you, but I tell you only at the beginning because then you read how the story unfolds, the details and the atmosphere in which the author introduces you and you don't want to stop reading.

MY OPINION

You don't know how excited I was to be able to start this trilogy, and since I saw The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings movies, I simply fell in love with Middle Earth.

The story begins with a full introduction to the hobbits, their customs, history, and the Shire. So the author puts us in tune with these characters who are so important to the story.

During Bilbo Baggins's birthday celebration, he planned to make her something totally unforgettable. After giving a few words in front of the audience, Bilbo suddenly disappears in front of them. Before the eyes of everyone and especially the wizard Gandalf who already suspects certain attitudes of Bilbo, he thinks that he will find him in her house and goes to her. Gandalf finds Bilbo and discovers that he intends to leave the country to spend his life elsewhere. Bilbo, who had previously become the bearer of the ring - unknown to anyone apart from Gandalf's suspicions - intends to leave with his ring and go unnoticed. Gandalf, however, has to warn him about the coming war for the one ring with the dark lord and all his allies. Gandalf,

(...) Well, advice is a very dangerous gift, even from a wise man, since all paths can end badly.

Frodo is alerted by Gandalf about Bilbo's departure and is later told by Gandalf about the One Ring and his duty as bearer of it. Frodo has to go to the council in Rivendell, to decide what to do with the ring and with the war that develops.

LET'S TALK ABOUT:

The Lord Of The Rings Review

For me, these two hobbits make a totally important part of the story. At first, you notice them somewhat clumsy and they even seem like an insert, but then they become more serious about the matter and above all, the loyalty they show to Frodo and Sam is unmatched.

When I saw the movies, these characters didn't seem very endearing to me and I don't know why if they had everything to endear me to, but I left them in the background and they didn't deserve it. Throughout the reading, I realized that they are a pair of very brave and daring hobbits.

There is a seed of courage hidden (often deep, it is true) in the heart of the fattest and tiniest of hobbits, waiting for some desperate and ultimate danger to germinate it.

CONCLUDING

A fascinating world, full of many things that every time you read you are impressed by everything that Tolkien's mind created. A mundane like me, I could never have created something like that. The elves have their own language, the descriptions are beautiful and they make you enter middle earth. The songs sung by the characters are beautiful. There are endearing, wise, brave, funny and loving characters, all tailored to their needs. And if they want to start with the trilogy, there is no problem because in many parts they explain the things to which the story refers. Epic fantasy for everyone!
