Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian are LA It Girls.
Two socialite women: Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian were both born into rich loyal families and also best friends. They were loved and hated by the media and haters but they still managed their way into the fame limelight.
Paris
Paris Whitney Hilton was born on February 17, 1981, in New York City to her parents Richard and Kathy Hilton. She is the oldest of her four siblings: Nicky, Conrad, and Barron. Her paternal great-grandfather was Conrad Hilton Sr., who founded Hilton Hotels, while her maternal aunts are television personalities Kim and Kyle Richards.
Kathy was an actress before she met Richard and married him in 1979. Richard was a realtor and was taking over the Hilton business.
Throughout Paris's childhood, the young heiress was raised in luxury, growing up in New York City alongside her hospitality industry tycoon father. The Hilton family lived in an extravagant hotel, the Waldorf Astoria, but behind closed doors Paris was in a bit of a tussle with her family as she felt the urge to rebel against them.
Kim
Kimberly Noel Kardashian was born on October 21, 1980, to her parents: Robert Kardashian and Kris formerly Kardashian. She is the second oldest of her siblings: Kourtney, Khloe, and Rob. Her younger half-siblings: Kendall and Kylie Jenner before her parents divorced in 1991 and Kris remarried to Bruce Jenner in 1991 before he transitioned to Caitlyn Jenner. Unlike Hilton, Kim Kardashian’s family lived their lives as a luxury middle-class type of family. Her father, Robert Kardashian was a defensive attorney for his good friend OJ Simpson. OJ Simpson and Robert Kardashian had known each other at USC and have been good friends ever since.
OJ was at Robert's wedding and became The Godfather to all of Robert's children including Kim. During the 1990s, Robert's friend OJ was accused of murdering his then-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman outside of her LA home which made a huge "trial of the century". Simpson was arrested and charged with Nicole and Ron's murder. Simpson pleaded his innocence even his fans believed his innocence and some including Nicole and Ron's families and colleagues believed that Simpson committed the murder after all, Simpson had allegedly abused Nicole during their marriage.
On October 3, 1995 (3 days before I was born), Simpson was acquitted of the murder of Nicole and Ron.
Since OJ's acquittal, Kardashian and Simpson stopped being friends. Throughout the Kardashian clan, Kim was a daddy's girl and had a close bond with her father. In July 2003, Kardashian was diagnosed with cancer. In September 2003, when Kim was 23, Robert succumbed to cancer leaving behind Kim and her siblings. After her father's death, Kim went off to work at a store called Body in Calabasas and as a celebrity personal stylist. Kim became good friends with heiress Paris and singer Brandy who later became her stylist.
Their Sextapes
In 2003, Hilton made a raunchy sex tape with her then-boyfriend Rick Salomon. Hilton was in shock and had no idea that the tape was leaked. In 2021, Hilton expressed regret of her sex tape and called it humiliating.
Fun Fact: Grammy Winner P!nk parodied Paris's sex tape in her music video "Stupid Girls". Paris felt bothered by the music video.
While Kim was in a relationship with Ray J, Ray J and Kim thought of the idea of making a sex tape. According to Ray J, Kim was the one who planned the sex tape I guess just to be bigger and better than Paris Hilton since she was gaining fame from her sex tape. Ray J and Kim broke up in 2006. Around the time the sex tape was leaked, Kim was in talks about a reality show with her family. At the time her sex tape was leaked, according to her mother Kris, she was "disappointed" in Kim even the Norwoods including Brandy were in shock after the sex tape was leaked. Years after the sex tape, Kim expressed her regret about the sex tape and mentioned a second tape with Ray J on her reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. However, Ray J called out Kim and her mother Kris for using the supposed sex tape and started exposing the Kardashians on Instagram Live.
Their Reality Shows
Hilton started her reality show in 2003 along with her childhood friend, daughter of R&B singer Lionel Richie, and socialite Nicole Richie on the Fox reality show The Simple Life. The series focuses on two best friends: Paris and Nicole leaving their rich lifestyles for broke low-end pay jobs working at fast-food restaurants, farms, and gas stations in a small town. The show premiered on December 2, 2003, shortly after Paris's sex tape leaked. Despite the tape, the show made higher ratings and has made Paris and Nicole become reality show icons. Throughout her time on the show, she acted as a dumb blonde persona with a high-pitched somewhat sultry voice.
After Kim's sex tape leaked, executive producer and host Ryan Seacrest liked the idea of the reality show. The show was titled "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" starring all the Kardashian family including Kendall and Kylie (Kris and Bruce Jenner's youngest daughter) and Scott Disick (Kourtney's boyfriend). The pilot episode premiered on October 14, 2007.
The show was universally panned since its premiere. It was often criticized for the high degree of emphasis on the "famous for being famous" concept, and for appearing to fabricate some aspects of its storylines. However, some critics described the series as a "guilty pleasure" and acknowledged the family's success. Despite its negative reviews, Keeping Up with the Kardashians attracted high viewership ratings, becoming one of the network's most successful shows and winning several audience awards.
The show spawned multiple spinoffs: Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami (2009), Kourtney and Kim Take New York (2011), Khloe & Lamar (2011), Rob & Chyna (2016) and Life of Kylie (2017).
Music Careers
Other than their reality stardom, Hilton pursued her music career. Her single "Stars are Blind" was released on June 5, 2006, to critical and commercial success.
Her debut album Paris was released on August 22, 2006. The album reached number six on the Billboard 200 and sold over 600,000 copies worldwide. In 2024, eighteen years after the debut album release, Hilton announced she is working on her second album.
As for Kim's music career, Kim has never had an album release or the voice of a singer. In 2010, Kim started singing her first and only single "Jam (Turn It Up)". The song was released on iTunes Store on March 2, 2011, and half of the proceeds from the sales of the song were donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Years after she released the song, Kim expressed her regret for the song.
Fun Fact: Jam (Turn it Up) was supposed to be for Whitney Houston. Thank God! Houston turned the song down.
If you ask me, Hilton has a pretty decent voice better than Kim's.
Acting Careers
Since Hilton's reality show debut, Hilton has guest-starred and starred in several television shows and films. Paris starred in The Hottie and the Nottie in 2008, she appeared in the My Name Is Earl episode, a cameo appearance in the Cat in the Hat, the Bling Ring, and other television and film appearances. She starred in a horror flick House of Wax in 2005. In 2008, she starred in a horror rock musical Repo! which was one of my favorite films. Critics had hated her in films and has won some Razzie for Worst Actress but I am not going to lie she did alright in the Repo film.
Kim made her feature film debut in Disaster Movie, a film spoof where her character was short-lived. She guest-starred in teleHow I Met Your Mother, Beyond the Break, and CBS's CSI: NY. She starred in Tyler Perry's Temptation as Ava which she did a pretty decent job in the film. The film also stars Jurnee Smollett, Lance Gross, Vanessa Williams, and Kim's former friend Brandy. A rumor circulated that while filming Temptation her former friend Brandy (who also starred in the same film as Kim) ordered Kim Kardashian not to be near her which Brandy denied on the Wendy Williams show. After all, they never had scenes with each other in the film.
"The Shade of it All" (Alleged Feud)
Since Kim's success of Keeping and high fame, rumors from media outlets that the heiress has a "beef" with the reality socialite. Rumors had swirled that Hilton was jealous of Kim's career. Hilton had an interview on ABC when he asked about the Kardashians. Hilton didn't say much about them, she got up and walked out of the interview without saying a word.
Friends Again
Since the walkout, two reality socialites have reconnected and become friends again. Kim appeared in Hilton's music video "Best Friends A**" and has appeared on an episode of Paris's Netflix cooking show Cooking with Paris reminiscing their time as friends. The two have been on good terms and had compliment each other in interviews come to show that there is no beef between the two socialites.
Now the two beauty queens' socialites are successful business moguls and mothers still achieving love and hate at the same time. Despite of the hate, the two socialites had achieved such success.

Since the only thing that might pull us back up is caring, it only makes sense that here, long after I’ve let my anger born of heartbreak and grief misplace, multiply, misdirect itself, let the enormity of my solitude turn into something I don’t know how to dispute with, something thick and heavy and suffocating, let the coldness thrash and fight under my skin, deeper still, in between the arches of my organs; here where the ground is always close and the fall is easy and I surrender to it often, lie without purpose for hours, it only makes sense that it is here, I decide to show up and surrender to the possibilities of the night. Show up to those who I deserted. Drawn to the sense of accomplishment, something I haven’t felt in a while, to memory of finished dish sending its aroma into the world and with it, wrapping the room with a strong sense of sweet nostalgia, I get up and decide to cook. I pick up my phone, type a message that reads “Dinner at mine @ 8PM, don’t bring anything” and before my courage deserts me again, drop it in our friends’ group chat, the way one would do when diffusing a bomb in the movies: one eye closed, snip at the wire, hoping for the best.
