The Good Ol' Freddie Highmore Days

How it all started.........

We're going back to the 2000's baby! I grew up in the 2000's and have watched so many awesome flicks with so many talented child actors and actresses. I have so many favourites, so it's impossible for me to just pick one. Many of my favourite child actors are male, but I have a few that are female such as AnnaSophia Robb. After watching quite a few British movies from the mid-2000's, I finally figured out who my celebrity crush was. He was not your typical punk or dude that would be seen walking on the streets in large silver necklace, the silky comb-over haircut, big baggy jeans and a t-shirt. The child actor that became my celebrity crush was British child actor Freddie Highmore, who played in several American films like August Rush (2007), The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008) and the British movie Five Children and It (2004). As a child, I used to imagine myself and him being best friends.

Freddie Highmore entered this beautiful world on February 14, 1992 in Camden Town, London, England. Freddie Highmore took an interest in theatre and performing arts at a young age. His parents both had fascinating careers in show business. His father Edward Highmore was a former actor who played in films such as Jack and the Beanstalk (2001) and multiple TV shows like Doctor Who (1984). Among his father, his mother Sue Latimer is a talent agent who also has clients like Daniel Radcliffe who played in all of the Harry Potter flicks. His acting career started at just 7 years old when he got the role of a little boy named Sam in the movie Women Talking Dirty (1999). Him, British actress Helena Bonham Carter (who was also in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and his younger brother Bertie Highmore all acted together in this film.

His acting career did not stop after Women Talking Dirty. Since 2001, he continued to follow his passion for theatre arts and played minor roles in different television shows like The Mists of Avalon (2001), Jack and the Beanstalk (2001) and I Saw You (2002). After those three TV shows, he moved onto acting in films that were based on children's books, music and biographical people such as JM Barrie (the author of Peter Pan). Five years later, his second film he acted in was called Two Brothers (2004) which took place in Cambodia. The other films that he acted in were Five Children and It (2004) and Finding Neverland (2004) which were both based on classic children's books. Finding Neverland told the story of the author of Peter Pan.

A year after Five Children and It and Finding Neverland was released, he gained another opportunity to play Charlie Bucket in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) with British actor Johnny Depp and American child actress/model/singer AnnaSophia Robb. AnnaSophia Robb was also in Because of Winn Dixie (2005) and Bridge to Terebithia (2008) which are both based on children's literature. During his earlier years of acting, he started networking with Johnny Depp which eventually developed into a meaningful friendship. In addition to Johnny Depp, he was able to meet other actors/actresses from around the world such as Philip Wiegratz from Germany, Julia Winter from Sweden and Kate Winslet from Australia.

Freddie Highmore's fantastic acting career went into his adolescence and young adulthood. During his lengthy acting career, he gained the opportunity to travel around the world to places like France and the USA to act in multiple films such as Arthur and the Invisibles (2006), August Rush (2007) and The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008).

As he made more progress in his acting career, he took a break from live-action films. He moved onto voice acting in various animated films and video games such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), Astro Boy (2009) and Arthur 3: The War of the Two Worlds (2010). His career in voice-acting was not permanent.

Two years after, he finished voice acting and moved onto American television shows. He and Ukrainian-American actress Vera Farmiga acted in the newer version of the American horror TV series Bates Motel (2013-2017) which can also be watched on Netflix. Six years after acting in Bates Motel, he gained the role of the gifted and autistic surgeon Dr. Shaun Murphy in The Good Doctor (2017-2020) which is another popular American television series.

Freddie Highmore is my favourite child actor of all time, because he and I have so many of the same interests and we are both very intelligent. Freddie Highmore is not just a talented child actor from England. He is also very linguistic, loves to travel the world, loves public attention, loves to raise awareness for certain causes and likes to play video games just like I do. He will forever be my favourite child actor, even when I am in my 40's. He is portrayed as an affable, positive, outgoing, humble and is very grown-up when he is talking to various acting professionals. His youthful appearance, wavy and thick chocolate brown hair and slim body also caught my eye over the years. He's not too muscular and not too skinny- he has the ideal body! I hope he continues to live a long, happy, healthy life because he deserves it!
