Season 3 and Beyond

There are no words to describe how hilarious and entertaining this anime series is, it is truly a gem of all gems when it comes to anime comedy. It brings forth so many characters that are strangely odd, yet fascinating so it is no surprise that Netflix launched both season 1 and season 2 this year. After all, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K was a huge success in Japan, so it comes as no surprise that it became a sensation when it hit Netflix for the American viewers.

If you aren't fully aware of what the anime is about, it revolves around the life of Kusuo Saiki, hence the title, right? However, he is not your average high school boy, he posses many supernatural abilities such as telekinesis, levitation, x-ray, clairvoyance, astral projection, pyrokinesis, mind control, psychometrics, teleportation, and invisibility to name a few (he might be stronger than both One Punch Man and Goku). Sounds ideal to be able to possess all these different kinds of supernatural powers, but his only wish is that he was average and to live a normal life as much as possible. That is not the case since he seems to attract the strangest classmates to become his 'friends' or 'acquaintances'. His newly found friends are anything but ordinary and follow the storyline of Kusuo handling the challenges of everyday life with his strange family and friends.

Being a tremendous success, the production company did confirm a season 3 is currently underway. This being said, it is expected to premiere in early 2019 but there is no official date and month. On a good note, the new year is right around the corner! After all, the ending of season 2 ended with a major revelation of season 3 coming soon. Therefore, there is no surprise that season 3 was announced by the production company, and more likely will be one of the most anticipated animes of 2019, since the fandom keeps growing and growing. I mean, what's not to like about Saiki and the odd bunch?

If you have not done so, there is the live-action movie to catch up on prior to season 3 being released. The movie was released last year in 2017 and was one of the most anticipated movies in Japan. From the visual trailer, the live-action cast is very similar to the actual anime characters. Some do look like they have stepped out of the anime, so go ahead and be the judge.

Aside from the anime series, and the movie, there is also the manga. What better way to spend your time while waiting for the new season to arrive than to read the original material, right? The manga currently has 279 chapters (don't let this discourage you) and supposedly has ended. But many fans feel that the manga has not actually ended. There will be no manga spoilers, but it does end with a major cliffhanger, and has left many of the fans wondering what will happen to Kusuo next! There have been other anime news blogs/sites that have announced the upcoming season will end the series in accordance to the ending of the manga. However, it seems a little unclear as to whether this will be done, or if the manga will have a spin-off?

The Saiki K series is a gag comedy and it could possibly be a 'gag joke' that both manga and anime will have not an actual ending, similar to Gintama, which never ends and just keeps going and going. Either way, the Saiki K manga and anime are both just as good and continue to be hits. 2019 cannot get here any sooner to reveal both the new season and what will become of the manga. Until then, fans can enjoy the manga and the movie that are both good options to indulge in while waiting for season 3.
