The Definition of Music, Video games, and Writing.

Nothing like discovering a question that is unanswered. The adventure of finding the answer is what makes it all worth it. You end up looking for one thing but end up learning and discovering more than you thought you would and sharing it with the world.

Melody, therapy, and remedy (other names I call them music, video games, and writing). All three are composition, addiction, solution. Nothing has effected me more in life than these three. Keeping the definition of each of these subjects under one sentence has always been a challenge. Instead of trying to keep that going, I have decided to get everything out of my system. Describing and sharing everything that I have experienced and perceived from being so immersed in these realities. They can change a way of life, they can inspire, they can tell a story, and they can help us understand more than we could before.

What is Music?

Music is, rhythm, a beat, and an escape. Sound waves, manipulated by the artist, meant to caress your brain in such a wonderful way. Perfectly resonating with you for reasons you might not know. Music can be soothing, or could be heart pounding. Music can put you to sleep and wake you up (Before you go go). It's something that is beautiful and dangerous at the same time because subliminal messages can be shared through any seducing melody. Music can fix a broken heart, and it can cause a broken heart. Music can be as beautiful as a sunset in the fall over a green valley or as exhilarating as a roller-coaster ride in a thunder storm. Nothing is more influential than a well-written song. It can inspire someone to do anything.

A song can push someone over the edge, give them that extra encouragement to do that something that they have been dying to do but haven’t had the guts to do it yet. When I listen to music, I am looking for something that hooks me immediately. Usually, the best rock songs hook immediately, while the best soft songs make you wait for the best parts.

Everyone has different taste, that’s why there's so much music out there and every song has an audience, some bigger than others. The thing about music is that there will always be something new to listen to. Every time I get hooked on a new song, I get even happier thinking that this is going to happen again sooner or later. I am going to get hooked onto another song, like I did today, and the song I’m listening to right now might get old but never die. It’s hard to describe this feeling, because feeling it is way better than explaining it. I’m pretty sure you know the feeling I’m talking about. If not, look for music anywhere, and when a song stops you in your tracks and makes you feel things that are almost indescribable. You have felt the feeling of music, and that’s not even all the feelings you can feel from music. There's so much more but only so much I can talk about, you must experience it for yourself, and hopefully you have.

What are Video Games?

In a way, it's like music. It's an escape from reality, a relaxing adventure, and story waiting for you to explore it. It's stepping into the shoes of another life and making decisions in someone else’s. Video games can be as emotional and entertaining as a movie in similar ways, and in its own ways. Through animation and motion capture, (voice) actors can be utilized to their fullest potential. From detailed facial expressions to stunts made easy thanks to motion captures. Worlds, characters, and stories can be imagined, made, and presented in extraordinary ways that other media can not replicate.

There’s story driven games like Bioshock, The Last of Us and Detroit: Become Human. These games get top actors, passionate writers (foreshadowing), and renown artists to compose music and make the world that will be presented to the player. It’s another world where people can see the beautiful imagination of the developers. From a city under water to a world now oppressed by a fungus parasite and surviving is the main goal of life. Stories can be created, characters can be ever so deep and interesting and the worlds are desired to be reality.

Some games are meant for fun more than anything like Mario kart, Goat Simulator, and Minecraft. Games like this focus on game play and want to make the experience fun, exciting, new, and make the player want to keep on coming back for more. When a game does all this, it makes for a great time and it’s an experience that is easy to share with others. When multiplayer options are applied, the experience can change and add so much wonder. Nothing is more fun than laying on the couch with your buddy and playing a match of slayer in "Halo" or beating a impossible level in "Cuphead". A gaming experience is like a movie, but you control it. Endless possibilities of what you can experience when you sit down, pick a game and play. You could laugh, cry, be relaxed, be on the edge of your seat, be the noob or be the king. Gaming is another reality that is nothing short of endless possibilities and good times.

What is Writing?

Writing can be a gate way to anything you can think of. It takes time and practice to articulate and structure words in such a way that is demanded by companies and/or readers. Like the earlier subjects before this, writing is a form of communication, and this form of communication is the most important one. With writing, a musical piece can be explained by the artist. Informing the reader of how important a certain lyric is to the artist and why it's in the song. Writing like this gives more meaning and thought to the person listening to the song and informs them of the deeper meaning the artist hid in their work. Video games benefit from writing too (everything does). From video game reviews to the description on the back of the game's box. Writing informs. Through, like a Swiss army knife, writing does not just inform. Great writing can sway one's emotions. Great writing can change someone's mind. Writing can inspire.

Informative writing is the most common and demanded form of writing out there. News writing, web articles, and even some narratives are meant to inform audiences of information they are unaware of. Though other forms of writing such as; descriptive, persuasive, and research have their obvious roles. With any type of writing, there're endless possibilities of what one can do. It takes time, practice, and research to master certain types of writing.

For example, a persuasive writer needs to know their audience and what they are trying to persuade. Without that, they are doomed to fail in their purpose to persuade. Trying to find information for this writing takes time, dedication, and passion. With those three things, anyone could be a writer.

Time is something that you have to grab a hold of yourself. Dedication is something you make for yourself. You grab the time, you keep holding on to the time and you don't give up on your passion for writing (or anything for that matter). Passion is something that is unique to you, that you already have without even knowing it. It comes without warning. All a sudden, you have an urge in your body to do something for a reason you alone know. Feeling a motivation and a pull to be a purpose and a reason of good change in this world. You can do this in many ways, and one of those ways, is writing.
