MTV’s Teen Wolf finished its run in 2017, but it remains memorable for its crazy adventures, vibrant characters, and sense of humor. However, it also explores dark themes pertaining to growing up.

The series can teach audiences many valuable lessons to be applied to real life, even if most of viewers won’t have to deal with supernatural creatures. Here are five of the funniest quotes from Teen Wolf, and five that are heartbreaking, just in time for Teen Wolf: The Movie, which will premiere on January 26, 2023.

10. FUNNY: “His Username Is Allison? His Password Is Also Allison?”

In the show’s first season, Peter Hale is the biggest threat to Beacon Hills. He’s trying to get Scott to join his pack, but Stiles wants to protect him because he knows that Peter’s evil. When Peter forces him to log in to Scott’s account on his laptop, his reaction to Scott’s username and password is priceless.

Peter has built up the idea of Scott as a beta in his pack to something elusive and desirable. The fact that Scott doesn’t want to join his pack only makes Peter want him more. But Peter’s not impressed when he learns Scott’s log-in details. Stiles responds, “Still want him in your pack?” In retrospect, the idea that Peter is Scott and Stiles’ biggest worry is almost funny.

9. HEARTBREAKING: “If You Die, I Will Literally Go Out Of My Freaking Mind.”

Stiles and Lydia’s romance is the slowest burn in the series, and it starts out with Stiles pining over her for a painstakingly long time. Our first introduction to Lydia is when she ignores Stiles in the pilot episode. By season 2, they’re friends, but Lydia’s still in love with Jackson.

Lydia wants to help him, even though he’s a kanima now, but this frustrates Stiles. He tells her she doesn’t care about getting hurt, that death happens to everyone around her — not just her. What’s so heartbreaking about this quote is that Lydia doesn’t return his feelings, and won’t appreciate his true worth for a long time.

8. FUNNY: “Someone Needs To Sex Me Right Now!”

When Stiles figures out that someone is ritually sacrificing virgins in Beacon Hills, he begins to fear for his life. He’s in the locker room with Scott, trying to figure out if one of Deaton’s clients was a virgin before he went missing. “Could he have been a virgin, maybe? Did he look like a virgin? Was he, you know, virginal?”

Scott says that he couldn’t have been because Deaton makes him have sex with all of his new clients. But Stiles doesn’t find this funny and continues sputtering about how someone needs to have sex with him immediately. Danny is right behind him as this is going on, and he says he’ll do it … but he’s only joking.

7. HEARTBREAKING: “My Friends … They’re All Going To Die.”

Season 5 opens with Lydia’s imprisonment in Eichen House, followed by a surprise fight sequence where she utilizes her banshee abilities and skills she must have picked up somewhere between seasons 4 and 5. This opening scene turns out to be a flashforward and the audience has no idea what disastrous events have occurred to result in this hopeless outcome.

Worse still is that Lydia is totally powerless, trapped as she is in Eichen House, and hallucinates her dead ex-boyfriend telling her to give up. None of the Eichen House staff listen to her warnings, and even if they did, they wouldn’t believe or help her. Lydia is absolutely sure that her friends are about to die, clueless and defenseless.

6. FUNNY: “It’s Your Dream. Take Responsibility For It. Shut Up And Go Back To Sleep.”

After Danny is hospitalized in season 3, Stiles breaks into his room to look through his things. As luck would have it, Danny starts to regain consciousness just as Stiles is rummaging in his bag.

Danny asks him what he’s doing, so Stiles scrambles to tell him that he’s dreaming. Even in semi-consciousness, this doesn’t sound quite right to Danny. “Why would I dream about you going through my stuff?” he mutters. Annoyed by the constant interruptions to his detective work, Stiles snaps, “I don’t know that, Danny, okay? It’s your dream. Take responsibility for it.” He savagely adds, “Shut up and go back to sleep.”

5. HEARTBREAKING: “What The Hell Is A Stiles?”

The first time we hear this quote on the show, it’s a little funny. Stiles comes to visit Lydia at her house and her mother tells her, “There’s a Stiles here to see you,” to which Lydia carelessly replies, “What the hell is a Stiles?”

But in season 6 Stiles is claimed by the Ghost Riders and everyone forgets him — even Lydia, who is with him last when he tells her he loves her. Scott’s pack eventually realizes they’ve forgotten someone important. Lydia’s supernatural abilities prove to be the key to discovering his name, but upon writing it out all she can say is, “What the hell is a Stiles?”

4. FUNNY: “Reason? Have You Met This Guy?”

Scott and Stiles are trapped inside a tiny bus with a bunch of werewolves and Coach — what could possibly go wrong? Coach’s whistle is full of wolfsbane, which he’s been blowing all over the werewolves in the bus, including Scott, who’s severely injured and unable to heal.

Allison and Lydia have been following them for hours, and Allison tries to convince Stiles to get Scott off the bus. She tells him to reason with Coach, but Stiles is right. Every time he tries to speak with him, Coach blows the whistle in his face. Eventually, Stiles gives up and roars, “OKAY!” Luckily, he comes up with a plan to evacuate the bus by making Jared vomit.

3. HEARTBREAKING: “Some Of Us Have To Make Mistakes. Some Of Us Are Human!”

When Scott learns that Stiles has killed Donovan, he feels that he can no longer trust him. Not only did Stiles kill this boy, but he lied about it for a long time. However, viewers know that he killed him in self-defense, and he didn’t entirely mean to — though no other options seemed to present themselves at the time.

Stiles is wracked with guilt, and it stays with him for a very long time. Scott doesn’t know the whole story, and Theo has been messing with everyone’s heads, so it’s all unfair. But Stiles has a point — what choice did he have? And can’t Scott forgive him for one mistake? This rainy scene creates a rift in Scott and Stiles’ previously unbreakable friendship, but not for long.

2. FUNNY: “My Mom Does All The Grocery Shopping.”

Early in season 1, Jackson was Scott’s biggest enemy. With his newfound abilities, Scott is suddenly the best lacrosse player on the team. As Captain, Jackson feels threatened, but he’s also suspicious. He confronts Scott in the hallway and demands, “Where are you getting your juice?”

Scott isn’t too intimidated, but he is definitely confused. He pauses, and the two stare at each other in tense silence. Finally, Scott answers: “My mom does all the grocery shopping.” This is a perfect way to break the tension and show us Scott’s innocence and nerdiness since viewers know Jackson is referring to drugs.

1. HEARTBREAKING: “It’s Okay, It’s Perfect. I’m In The Arms Of My First Love. The First Person I’ve Ever Loved. The Person I’ll Always Love. I Love You, Scott McCall.”

Allison’s death scene would have been sad no matter how it played out, but her revealing that she’s always been in love with Scott makes it all the more heartbreaking. When they break up in season 2, Scott says he knows they’re going to be together. Long after her death, he still mourns her and feels her presence.

On top of this, Lydia feels Allison dying but can only wait helplessly as she’s stuck with Stiles underground. Allison’s dad arrives a moment too late, and by now he’s lost his entire family. Allison shows so much potential to keep growing as a character and help Scott’s pack, so her death really couldn’t have been more untimely, and we’re still sad about it years later.
