Marvel's upcoming series The Punisher remains the most mysterious Netflix show to date. We haven't even been given an official release date yet! The House of Ideas is carefully building up the sense of intrigue around the show, and they're using social media to do so. Over on Twitter, for example, they chose to release the episode titles — but used Morse Code to do it!

Joining Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in Season 2, Nick Blood's Lance Hunter was a roguish merc who wound up becoming so popular that Marvel actually tried to launch a spin-off series, Marvel's Most Wanted. Sadly though, ABC didn't bite and unfortunately for Nick Blood, his character had already been written out of S.H.I.E.L.D. As a result of this, the whole of Season 4 went by without a hint of his return.
Marvel's Netflix shows have eagerly embraced social media. Each series has its own official Twitter account, and sometimes those accounts will even stay in-character. That's led to a lot of real humor for fans of The Defenders, with the official Jessica Jones account in particular offering a string of snarky tweets.
As any Marvel fan will know, Marvel's Inhumans has had a rough few days. The cast came out in force at ABC's showcase at the Television Critics Association summer tour, but it doesn't sound as though the critics pulled any punches. It all led to Anson Mount, who's playing Black Bolt on the show, making a quip that will resonate with any meme fan.
It’s been a busy year for Marvel Television! Inhumans is still screening in many IMAX cinemas worldwide, and is due to air at ABC from September 29th. Meanwhile, November will see the launch of not one, but three Marvel series; Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return on ABC, we’re expecting The Punisher to stream on Netflix, and Runaways will premiere on Hulu.
Created all the way back in 1966, Sharon Carter was originally envisioned as the sister of Peggy Carter, and a love interest for Captain America. As the years passed, Marvel retconned her history so she became Peggy's great-niece, an idea that fits more effectively with the passage of time. That's the version Marvel brought to the big screen when they introduced Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return to our screens January 2018, and filming for the upcoming fifth season is underway. As is always the case, the cast are dropping entertaining teasers that show just how much of a blast they're having. Take, for example, Chloe Bennet's (Daisy Johnson) now-deleted Instagram video, which showed some of the show's female stars enjoying a workout. It was just a bit of fun, but the fact it has since been deleted seems suspicious — particularly when you look at this image with an attentive fan managed to snap before the video was taken down:
Back in 2015, Marvel took the world by storm when they released the first season of Daredevil, launching a whole new corner of the MCU over on Netflix. Now, the first phase of Marvel Netflix has finally come to a triumphant close with The Defenders. But with at least three, possibly even four, Marvel shows streaming on Netflix in 2018, where do we go from here? What plot threads does The Defenders set up for the future?
All the greatest superhero stories carry a depth of meaning that goes beyond mere super-powers. Now, in the golden age of superhero TV shows, the pressure is on for each new series to provide something truly unique. Take Marvel's Cloak & Dagger, currently in production for Freeform. It's not enough to be a superhero teen romance; the show has to have something far deeper to it. The good news is that a recent leaked casting call suggests that Marvel is happy to oblige...
The first wave of Marvel's Netflix shows have proved to be a phenomenal success, culminating in The Defenders, the epic series that will unite the first four Netflix heroes. As part of our buildup to the show's release, I had the privilege of an exclusive interview with Sarit Klein, Marvel's go-to makeup designer. Here, she talks about giving each Netflix series their own unique tone and style, and then integrating these into The Defenders.
Sarit Klein is Marvel's go-to makeup artist, joining Marvel Television back in Daredevil Season 1. She's stayed with the company ever since, working on all four of their individual superhero shows, and we're about to see her latest masterpiece in The Defenders, where she was head of makeup. Excitingly, I got an exclusive opportunity to interview Sarit for Movie Pilot, and I wanted to give our readers a sense of just what makes this artist tick...
Iron Fist Season 1 left both Marvel and Netflix in a difficult place. On the one hand, the show was a remarkable success; although Netflix don't publish viewing figures, analysts are united in identifying it as the most-watched first season of a Marvel Netflix show to date. Unfortunately, that success didn't come with critical acclaim. Fans and critics alike were unimpressed, and Marvel's clearly learned some important lessons.
