App Review: "Applike"
So, I'm sure by now, anyone who's gone through a game and has had to sit through a commercial or an ad to get that bonus boost has seen the commercial for it. The little star, bouncing around between games and across the on-screen text to a boppin' beat that you can't help but want to download, claiming that you can make money from something as simple as playing games!
The Best Anime You've Never Heard Of
Back in the first decade of this century, a little known director (Koichi Mashimo) and a little known studio (Bee Train) teamed up to create a triquel of anime series which have affectionately become known as the 'Girls with Guns' trilogy. The first series of this trilogy was the 2001 series Noir while the last entry into the series was 2007's El Cazador de la Bruja. Arguably the best series in the trilogy, however, is a little known action series from 2004 simply titled Madlax. Melding the unlikely trio of mental trauma, the metaphysical, and civil war as its central themes, Madlax defied the odds by telling an amazing story from start to finish and created lifelong fans of the title in the process.
2017 Target Exclusive Weapon X
Before we take a look at the figure, let's just have a quick recap on the background of the character. He is after all one of the most iconic (and most successful, with regards to superhero movies at least) Marvel characters ever created.
Destiny: Age of Wrap-Up
[I wrote the first part of my Destiny review after having played through (and been disappointed by) the abrupt and surprising lack of content in Vanilla Destiny. This piece covers the completed game, about two years after I wrote my conflicted and irritated original review.]
Destiny: You Must Construct Additional Content
[As Destiny's final piece finishes off the game, I thought I'd compare and contrast what I wrote after playing the original (or "Vanilla") release of Destiny, prior to any DLC releases, with what the game's like now. If nothing else, this part is a nice, nostalgic look back what we had with Dinklebot]
Mass Effect Andromeda Review
Released: March 21, 2017 Genre: Third-Person RPS First Impression: "Jesus, are those the faces?" The first modern video game I played was the original Mass Effect, around ten years ago now. Since then the title's exploded, with sequels, books, merch, and the like following in the wake of its success. But the trouble with ongoing, consistent success is complacency--and you can see where that got the designers of Mass Effect 3, with its lame (original) ending barely bothering to acknowledge the amount of effort you put in to the entire damn game. That being said, I still played through Mass Effect 3 like... 4 or 5 times, one after the other, using different characters--and therefore different choices--each time. This, I thought, was the strongest point of the Mass Effect games: where its sister title Dragon Age abandoned the idea of carrying over choices and progress from previous titles at "Dragon Age 2: Errands in Town", Mass Effect kept with it.
Review of Dragon Warrior 2 for NES
Dragon Warrior 2 is also known as Dragon Quest 2 in Japan, and this is another JRPG, and the second game in the Dragon Quest franchise.
Dragon Warrior for NES
Dragon Warrior for the NES needs no introduction, but I’m going to include one anyway! It was originally released in Japan as Dragon Quest, and since then it has been ported to numerous platforms and has inspired sequels and spin-offs.
Chaos World for NES
Chaos World, an old school RPG originally only released in Japan, but translated quite a few years ago for those willing to hunt it down, is a surprisingly fun game.
O.J.: Made in America
We’ve all heard the story: O.J. Simpson brutally murdered his wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman and got away with it. It’s as simple as that. The story is one of prosecutorial ineptitude, ill-fitting gloves and media sensationalism- that’s how O.J. was acquitted of a crime despite the seemingly overwhelming amount of evidence implicating him. To me it really was that simple. But I was wrong.
