Svetlana SterlinPublished 2 years ago in Geeks Anne With An E: 5 Best (& 5 Worst) Characters
Anne With An E is the gritty adaption of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables book series. The books are eternally optimistic and dreamy, but they also gloss over some of the issues pertinent to Montgomery’s time. Moira Walley-Beckett’s Netflix series doesn’t shy away from exploring the historically taboo topics of gender inequality, racism, sexuality, and assault, among other issues.

My love of delightful, dark-humored comics stems from my early obsession with The Far Side comics, written by the remarkable Gary Larson (find his comics here). These single-panel cartoons were witty, poignant, and above all else, pushed the limits of what was allowed to print in the daily newspaper. I thought they were hilarious, and I actually used to own a collection of the comics that included copies of angry letters that Larson would receive from disgruntled newspaper patrons.

Harsh SoniPublished 2 years ago in GeeksMy Top 10 Films of All Time
If you're anything like me then film has been a part of your life for longer than you can remember. My Dad always enjoyed film and he encouraged me and my sister to follow suit. He wasn't shy about showing us films way beyond our age range. An 18 rated film wasn't off the table when I turned 9. I remember sitting at around that age and watching Assault on Precinct 13 for the first time. But, it's where my love for film took off. I'm not someone that takes in all the independent and foreign films, so I'm hardly an expert in what makes a good film. This list simply takes a look at 10 films that influenced my life, or left a lasting impression. Also in no particular order except the top three.
