Molly Weasley was sitting down for a bit of sherry and Celestina before turning in when a low grumbling sound drowned out the radio. She started to think it was pesky muggle teens out for a bit of fun in the middle of nowhere when a fluorescent yellow light flooded the kitchen. Whoever it is was approaching the Burrow.
Books for People Who Are Addicted to Fanfiction
Fanfiction has become my safe place for the past few months of the pandemic. While I love “real” books, the combination of Zoom and general pandemic fatigue robbed me of a lot of my motivation to read. At the end of the day, I often found myself craving comfort and instant gratification that I couldn't find in books. After talking to a friend about fanfics, I rediscovered ao3, a middle school obsession of mine that I never guessed would return to my life ten years down the road. I read one fic, and I was a goner. For the last few months of 2020, I only read fan fiction, and I loved it. I still do. I love the angst, the sexy romances, the familiar characters, the warm and fuzzy feeling I get from a particularly good scene.

I can feel the winter through my cuirass as we wait outside. The sound of the cold air makes the city appear lifeless. In my nervous calamity I can’t help but to slightly stroke both my kopis. I glance at the shield I carry and start to fall into nostalgia. I often wonder what my mother was like in battle and if I truly measured up to her skills. She is a legendary warrior to generations and a God to others. I can only hope that because I have her blood in my veins that I carry the same strength and intelligence she once did; that left this world breathless. I have heard countless stories of the enemies she has vanquished and the symbol of love she became to the universe. I presume there truly is nothing of equal value than the love from a woman’s heart. I was told that I was premature by 2 months and she lost her first fight. I often feel plagued that my birth meant her death; perhaps that’s why my father abandoned with a island of strangers. Sure, they cared for me but there’s nothing like the feeling of missing your parent’s love, your parents presence whether it is to mold you into a wonderful human being or to destroy you; I think it is better to at least know that to be left so unmolded. Everyone’s parents mold them out of clay and breathe life into them so easily; but I am so unsure of where I stand. My only options of my parents are the great stories I am told and I have no idea if I will truly measure up.

Authors Note: As both a Dungeons & Dragons player and an author, I've decided to retell sessions of a recent campaign I've started with my friends. This is not simply a transcription. I have put this in my own voice based on the events that "happened" in the campaign session as I would if I were writing a fantasy novel through traditional mechanisms. I'll put this note at the start of any following episodes in case people are just tuning in. If you haven't read the previous episodes, please find them on my profile and if you're enjoying the series so far, please consider giving a like or a tip. It is much appreciated!

It’s 0800 and the team has assembled in the lab. Deactivation is about to begin. My brothers and I hover in our usual lineup, as though it were any other morning. Only I know this day will be our last.

After finally reaching the library, which Tristan felt like they were walking forever, Farrah stopped Tristan at the door. “Now look T.C, I haven’t told Mrs. McLeary that I was bringing anyone. So when we go in let me do all the talking and pretend you don’t know that the book is one of her own.” Tristan was confused. “Wait, why do I have to pretend I don’t know the book is hers? And why am I not allowed to speak?” He asked. Farrah sighed “Well, there’s some type of rule saying that she’s not allowed to give books that are not for sale while she’s working. It’s sort of like working at a store where you sell the company’s product. You can only sell their product on their property. Selling your own stuff on their property would be wrong. Get it?” Farrah looked at Tristan, who looked like he only got half of what she was saying. “But she’s not selling you the book. She’s lending you the book.” Tristan corrected. “Yes T.C, that’s correct but either way it’s not property of the library and she is an employee, so it would be wrong.” Farrah explained. They both looked at each other for a bit. Farrah hoped she had finally gotten through to him. “Oh! Okay, I understand now. Fine, I won’t say a word!” Tristan pretended to zip and lock his mouth shut. He then pretended to throw the imaginary key far off, turned and smiled at Farrah goofily. “Oh stop it. Come on let's go get that book. You’re such a goofball.” Farrah chuckled.

“Has anyone ever told you what I did in the old country? How I grew up?” Dimitri was just regaining his consciousness after passing out moments before. Slowly coming to, he could first taste the blood seeping into his mouth from the empty gum pockets where once teeth were before. A stream of dried blood covered his upper lip below something that was once a nose. He was missing an ear, and although his eyes were swollen shut, the light shining in his face had worked its way through the swelling and aggravated the pounding headache he was experiencing.

If you were an observer objectively looking at his position within the family, Ashina Ide wouldn’t be considered a front runner to lead the Ashina clan, quite the opposite really. He was the second son of one of his father’s concubines and held no real influence with the Ashina family power players. Additionally, Ide was a poor swordsman, never took to horsemanship, and his aim with a bow was horrible, and for a samurai living in a warrior caste society, this was akin to being cursed. So once Ide reached the age of adulthood he was relegated to command a small outpost in the north, Hagi castle. A minor family member to be forgotten by serving as a short delay if an enemy force from the Date Daimyo invades.
