I'm no stranger to end of the world storylines but I have to admit that so far these have been two of my favourite.

With the recent Covid-19 events there have been plenty of conspiracy theories about how we are coming to the end of the world as we know it. Some people even believe this pandemic is a coverup to hide an even larger problem (myself not included).

But because things are all doom and gloom lately, I thought it was time for a bit of fun, dystopian fantasy fun that is.

So before we choose between which of these two wonderful series we'd prefer to live through, let's make a list of pros and cons.

***Please be warned, there may be spoilers ahead if you haven't watched both series***

Pros For The Hundred

1.You'd get to live in space. At least until the oxygen began to run out.

2.You might be one of the lucky (or unlucky) ones to be chosen as a member of the 100 to be the first to see the ground in almost one hundred years.

3.You might even be one of the lucky ones who never left earth and find yourself living in the bunker at Mount Weather.

4.Your opportunities for survival are endless if you have a good head on your shoulders. Be clever and you just might live long enough to see a new civilization on earth.

5.Perhaps you never even left the earth and you find yourself a member of one of the tribes, maybe even a member of the ice nation. If you are, watch your back, everybody seems out to get them.

The 100 Cons

1.If you're unlucky, you may never see the earth again as one of those culled to give everyone else a better chance of survival during the oxygen shortage.

2.The acid rain might get you or, if you know little about the earth's flora, you may stumble upon something inedible.

3.If you survived at Mount Weather, you may never be able to walk the earth again due to your radiation intolerance.

4.Maybe you'll run into a patrol of grounders. If they decide they don't like you, your chances of survival are pretty slim. Don't get on their bad side and you may just survive long enough to become one of them.

The 100 Overall

There are plenty of chances to survive in the world of The 100, all you have to do is be clever and keep your head down. Don't be a Clarke and go running headlong into trouble.

Pros For Snowpiercer

1.You may be lucky enough that Mr. Wilford has seen something special in you. He's given you a golden ticket to board his train and avoid the freeze.

2.Perhaps you even ended up in first class and all your worries are cared for by the wonderful staff from hospitality.

3.The train is 1001 cars long so you should be able to find your place in the world and I'm sure there's plenty to do onboard.

4.If you're an engineer, you may just be one of the people responsible for saving the rest of humanity.

5.Those high tech snowsuits seem pretty fun. Maybe you'll be a Melanie and get your chance to see the freeze beginning to end.

Snowpiercer Cons

1.You'll quite possibly be stuck on a train for the rest of your life. Sure the views will be spectacular for a while but I imagine it gets boring after a while.

2.If you weren't one of the lucky ones to be picked by Mr. Wilford you might have to fight just to stay alive. Being a member of the tail is fraught with danger from starvation and sickness to running the risk of losing an arm if you put one foot out of place.

3.Maybe you'll get caught in the crossfire between the Tailies and the rest of the train or offer yourself up as a martyr to save your little girl from losing an arm.

4.There's also the constant danger that you might do something to piss Mr. Wilford off and nobody wants to do that! Who in their right mind would slit their own wrists just to please a psycho?!

5.Maybe you're a man unlucky enough to catch the eye of Lilah Junior. Keep an eye on your crown jewels!

6.With only 1001 cars there isn't much of an opportunity to avoid conflict and you may find yourself on the wrong end of someone's stick.

Snowpiercer Overall

It's a cold, dark existence and your chances of survival are slim. Unless you're a genius, anyone could be collateral damage in Mr. Wilford's train games.

So if I had to choose one to be a part of, which would I pick?

The thought of being a member of first-class upon the Snowpiercer is pretty tantalizing but I'm just a humble author with no real skills toward engineering and I'm not sure my storytelling abilities would be up to Mr. Wilford's standards so I think I would have to choose the 100. I've never been a winter person anyway!

I have no doubt that if I was aboard the spacecraft, I'd likely have done something unacceptable and found myself locked up. Maybe I'd be one of the lucky 100 to set foot on earth for the first time!

What Do Both These Series Teach Us?

Maybe we should take some real time to think about what we are doing to our wonderful planet so that we don't have to come up with some crazy, hair-brained scheme just to survive the end of the world as we know it!

If you have an opinion on which series you'd rather be a part of, feel free to message me on my Facebook author page here.

Also, if you enjoyed this post please feel free to give it a heart. Likewise, a little tip goes a long way to helping me continue to bring you more!

Whether you're a fan of the 100 or Snowpiercer I wish you all the best and hope for your safety and health during this trying time.
