some time ago I had seen a brilliant series that I enjoyed immensely and had seen called “The Maravelous Mrs. Maisel" on Amazon premium. I loved the series! It’s about Midge Maisel who we see as a nice Jewish girl from uptown New York City. She married Joel Maisel who initially had the aspirations of becoming a comedian himself instead of her. So Joel and Midge would go to the Gaslight comic night club so that he could hone his craft. In the beginning Midge had it all a husband who loved her and a family until he said he wanted out of the marriage and so this is what inspired Midge. So she wandered back down to the Gaslight in her night gown and just started ranting about what Joel had done and then this gave way to Midge becoming a comic and also her manager Suzie was there that night and the two had initially met when Joel was there trying to be a comic and so that is how Suzie became her manager.

The series had a run of 5 wonder seasons. It chronicled Midge’s entire life and career in comedy in the 60’s and actually I thought of female comic legends of the time Joan Rivers and Phylis Diller. In the series cast was an all star cast except for Rachel Brosnahan who was in the lead role and is a star now like the rest and that I love Rachel Brosnahan she’s great. Midge’s father was a professor at Colombia University and then he started running with the 1960’s under ground and counter culture through out the rest of the series. Her mother had run off to Paris, France.

In it's run the series had won a series of notable industry awards such as the Oscars and the Emmy’s therefore confirming Rachel Brosnahan a star that she is. Now I had never heard about her till this role but still she became one of my favorite actresses.

I like how when the family’s Jewish heritage it was done with accuracy and respect throughout. In her career Midge had been arrested a couple of times and Lenny Bruce had bailed her out and they became friends but please remember this that never happened it is a work of fiction.

This series had a lot of fashions and had made a definite impact on the fashion world and fashions of the 1960’s were really much revived and therefore a revival was born through this wonderful series.

In my person opinion “The Maravellous Mrs. Maisel” was truly a well written series and everything about it leaves no mystery as to why it had become an instant hit. I truly enjoyed this quirky show and as I said earlier in the article the new actress Rachel Brosnahan played the lead of Mrs. Midge' Maisel I feel that she was born to play this role. To me the series is truly an instant modern day classic. The series really did have a cultural impact as well for instance there was a resurgence of 1960's wardrobe. I don't remember where I was but I saw a boutique that specializes in the fashions of the time. I had to visit it and it was an amazing browse. Aside from Midge becoming a comic the other surrounding characters also had interesting stories happening in their own lives her brother was an undercover CIA operative, her ex Joel opened a night club in China Town and then he later got arrested.

Every once in a while the show would hit with unexpected plot twists.
