In 2018’s Black Panther, in the beginning of act 3 when T’Challa was presumed dead after Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) beat T’Challa and threw him off the waterfall as Killmonger is crowned to be the next king and went in to the cave where the garden of the heart shaped herb were planted and set them on fire. To recall, these heart shaped herb is what gives any one who ingest it enhanced strength, durability and speed. It is tradition for this herb ingested to the ruler and protector of Wakanda, Black Panther, but when these herbs were set on fire and was destroyed, this could be the end of Black Panther. Of course, Erik Killmonger never thought of T’Challa little sister, the genius Shuri.

We, now have a new tie-in in the MCU book that is called “The Wakanda Files,” a notebook from Shuri that she has attempted synthesize her own version of the heart shaped herb, that might be using vibranium to stabilize the serum. Now, this is the interesting part that we had been missing this whole time, inside the notebook or so called The Wakanda Files, reveals that Shuri is very compelled by the work of Dr. Maya Hansen, played by Rebecca Hall in Iron Man 3. Dr. Maya Hansen was the one that was working on developing Extremis project along with Aldrich Killian, played by Guy Rich. Extremis is an experiment from of genetic that Dr. May Hansen was developing with Aldrich Killian and Advance Idea Mechanic (AIM), however the Extremis is not stable and very volatile and will cause the users to explode into pieces. After Aldrich Killian takes over throughout the film, Tony Starks somehow implied and was able to manage to stabilize the formula in the end of the film, then again this was never revealed or stated.

Shuri believes that this Extremis concept has potential to be the replacement of heart shaped herb that was destroyed in fire. In this book also had mentioned about the remote driving technology that they used in the car chase with T’Challa, Okoye and Nakia chasing for Ulysses Klaw (Andy Serkis) after the casino scene when Ulysses Klaw ran away. However, the used for the cars only from manufactured later than 1970’s, which that saying, in the 70’s we have not seen that technology yet or we would or might have seen a glimpse of it in Avengers: Endgame when Tony Stark and Steve Rogers went back to 1970’s to get that tesseract and Pym’s particle for their time traveling.

With the heart shaped herb destroyed in fire, Wakanda will not be able to produce a biologically enhanced herb for Black Panther after T’Challa used the last of it to get him healed and back on his feet. This could be something for the genius Shuri to work on replacement since she is already compelled with Dr. Maya Hansen’s work on Extremis. Shuri might be the one that will pick up where Dr. Maya Hansen left of and does more research to enhance the formula, with her intelligence, there is no doubt for her to continue the Extremis project to the next level and stabilize the formula, perhaps by using a combination of vibranium. If anything, Shuri is the only person in the MCU that is able to comply this. Especially after the death of Chadwick Boseman, fans are speculating that Shuri will step up to take the mantel of Black Panther and becomes the new ruler of Wakanda. Marvel has testified that they have no plans to replace Chadwick Boseman. So, that being said, it only makes sense for Shuri to develop the Extremis in order to be able to use it as the heart shaped herb to enhance her strength, durability and speed. As for now, we can only hope that this is possible and hoping Marvel will go to that direction.
