Many films and TV shows are slowly starting to ramp up production again after their long suspension due to the ongoing pandemic. Among the shows that have recently resumed filming is Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which is supposed to air on Disney+ late this year. The series will see the return of Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan in their respective MCU roles. It will expand upon the final moments in Avengers: Endgame, where Steve Rogers hands his shield to Sam Wilson now taking up the revered mantle of Captain America. We will see Falcon struggle with this newfound responsibility, while Bucky Barnes helps him along the journey.

Disney and the actors who work on the project have been silent on the production since May, when the production was suddenly stopped due to the pandemic. This forced the show to be pushed back from its original release date of August. Though we do not have a full trailer yet, so far Disney has unveiled a brief teaser in February during the Super Bowl. This quick teaser proudly displays Anthony Mackie's Falcon practicing with the Captain America shield for the very first time. It also teased that Bucky Barnes would reunite with Zemo. In the MCU, Zemo first appeared in Captain America: Civil War, where we saw him manipulating and antagonizing both Captain America and Iron Man into going to war with one another. It seems that he may be one of the villains of this series. From what we see in the trailer, and what details we have heard around the production so far, it seems that this show will take on a buddy-comedy tone, with the two friends pairing up to fight threats throughout the city. Alongside that, we also got a quick look at two of Marvel's upcoming shows: Loki and WandaVision. You can check out the teaser below:

In the midst of months of silence, Sebastian Stan took to Instagram last week to provide a look behind the scenes of the much-anticipated show. In the photo that he posted on Instagram, he can be seen staring intensely into the camera, just inches away from the camera, his Bucky Barnes dog tags dangling from his neck with the caption “Once upon a time...in 2019”.

So what could this photo possibly mean? Obviously, Stan does not give us much to go off of here Based on the caption, this photo was most likely taken last year, before shooting was halted, and Stan is reminiscing on earlier production days. However, it could be teasing that Winter Soldier might be suiting up sooner than we think. Audiences are speculating that the show only had two weeks of production before everything came to a sudden halt. Stan could be letting his fans know that filming is underway, or will be soon!

While fans were expecting delays, not having a new Marvel show sooner is a blow. Spider-Man: Far from Home was the last new MCU film that we got, and it has been fourteen months since its release. The last time we had a gap between releases that was longer than that was during the nearly two-year-long gap between 2008's The Incredible Hulk and 2010's Iron Man 2. So fans are left wondering when the MCU will resume. We have also seen all of the other Marvel films get consistently pushed back. For now, the release date for Black Widow is November 6. However, we will see if that date sticks. The date for Eternals, the next installment after Black Widow, is set for February 12, 2021. At least Sebastian Stan has given his followers a bit of hope that production on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be up and running, and we will most likely be seeing more of their characters before the end of 2020.
