The Little Mermaid. A love tale between a mermaid and a human with an evil sea witch standing in their way. Disney took this classic tale on and made it into a masterpiece with unforgettable characters and catchy songs we’d be singing for years to come. However, they created some terrifying scenes and one of the scariest villains Disney has ever made. This certainly is an unforgettable movie.

1. Flotsam and Jetsam

2. Ursula

3. The Final Battle

1. Flotsam and Jetsam

Flotsam and Jetsam are Ursula’s right hand eels who help her with her evil doings. They often swim around the ocean to find Ursula’s next victim for her to prey on. She seeks revenge on King Triton for banishing her from the ocean so sends her pets out to help gain her power. Flotsam and Jetsam find the less fortunate merfolk for Ursula to get something in return. They match well with Ursula’s wickedness and do well in catching their victims.

The two eels are the first characters to notice Ariel's interest in the world above the ocean. They report this to Ursula who sends them back to Ariel to make a deal with her. They succeed and take Ariel to Ursula’s lair. Their sly, cunning and manipulative attitudes worked a charm.

In the climax of the movie Flotsam and Jetsam set a chase on Prince Eric who hurts Ursula. They grab him and try to kill him. But Sebastian and Flounder come to the rescue and fend the creepy eels off Eric and save him. Ursula uses King Triton's trident to try and kill Eric. Ariel intervenes with the shot and Ursula accidentally kills her pet eels. She immediately mourns for them and then turns into ultimate beast mode to try and Kill Eric and Ariel. Flotsam and Jetsam definitely are the perfect pair of evil eels that Ursula needs. They helped serve her right and shared some of the characteristics as her. They meet an unfortunate death in which Ursula shows some emotion for her pets. They are truly the best sidekicks a villain can have.

2. Ursula

Ursula. The antagonist of the movie. She was banished from Atlantica by King Triton. She vowed that she would one day overthrow the King and become ruler of the ocean. She makes deals with merfolk but instead uses them to get what she wants. When Ariel, one of King Tritons daughters, is desperate to meet the man of her dreams, Ursula makes her sign a contract handing her voice to her making Ariel speechless. Ursula finally gets her hands on the trident and attempts to rule the sea. Prince Eric sees an opportune moment to kill Ursula and impales her with part of his ship finally taking down Ursula for good.

When we first see Ursula for the first time in the film, we see her watching over Ariel plotting her evil doings with her pet eels. Ursula believes that Ariel is, ‘the key to Tritons undoing.’ She uses her eels to lure her to the lair where she persuades Ariel through song to sign a contract to hand her voice over so she can meet the man of her dreams. Ariel doesn’t need to think twice about it and immediately signs it. Ursula rips out Ariel’s voice and then nearly lets her drown. Ursula laughs manically as Sebastian and Flounder take her to the surface. This is Ursula’s way of getting back at King Triton. A perfect revenge plan.

Ursula watches over Ariel from her lair and sees how quickly she falls in love with Prince Eric. She fears that Ariel will manage to kiss Eric before her time is up so takes matters into her own hands. She transforms into a human called Vanessa and bewitches Eric to fall in love with her. To Ariel’s dismay Eric forgets about her and Eric proposes to Vanessa. She says yes and their wedding takes place on a boat almost instantly. The wedding is sabotaged by sea animals and Vanessa transforms back into Ursula and the climax of the movie ensues. Ursula shows her true colours throughout the movie showing how far she will go just the rule the ocean. From using her pet eels to trying to ruin Ariel’s life she certainly makes one of the greatest villains of all time.

3. The Final Battle

The final battle. The climax of the movie. Ursula finally gets her hands on King Triton’s trident and uses it to grow to a ginormous size. The scene that leaves people of all ages with nightmares for years to come. After Flotsam and Jetsam are accidentally killed Ursula becomes enraged and tries several times to kill Eric and Ariel. The scene becomes dark and terrifying almost quickly. But Eric is quick to react to kill Ursula and peace is restored in the ocean. Ursula certainly left her mark on the kingdom and made sure that she will never be forgotten. Ursula is one of the greatest, darkest and most evil villains in film history.
