Podcast by fanders for fanders (and more)

What do you get when you put a few enthusiastic fanders from different parts of the world into a Skype session? You get the new podcast Sanders Sidekicks. An idea led by Michelle Brennan on Twitter, "Sanders Sidekicks" is a podcast where fans of Thomas Sanders as well as the series Sanders Sides discuss what comes to mind when it comes to particular characters, head canons, theories, and so much more. Also, some of the things that are included in the podcast are a "Fact of the Day" as a dedication to Logan, the Sanders Side who functions as the personification of Thomas's logical thinking, and a "Joke of the Day" as a dedication to Patton, the Sanders Side who functions as the personification of Thomas's heart, morals, and paternal instincts (complete with dad jokes).

Since the podcast is still relatively new, one of the few episodes that can really be talked about is the first one where all of us who were in the group call were talking about plenty from our pronouns to the first "Sanders Sides" episodes we were exposed to to our opinions on the latest debuted Sanders Sides, Remus AKA The Duke. Thanks to the main host, Michelle Brennan (AKA Emmy), what was initially about an hour of us (Emmy, Jazzy, Paxen, and I, as of the first episode) rambling about anything related to Thomas Sanders has been narrowed down to somewhere close to 16 minutes in a way that was able to fit the outline written out by our producer, Lucy the Egg on Twitter. Since we are all humans with our own agendas, some friends in our Twitter group chat for the podcast were unable to contribute to the first episode, but that didn't mean we would keep them from participating in any future episodes.

Since the group consists of multiple fanatics of Thomas Sanders, some hopes for the future of the podcast expressed have included (half-jokingly half-sincerely) Thomas Sanders, and/or at least one of his friends listening to at least one episode or be available for an interview. One cool thing about the fact that all of us in the group chat are in the same fandom is that, even though we steer away from the outline every now and then, we still know most of what we're talking about with each other. Even though we're from different parts of the world, we're all friends bonding over a common interest.

The purpose of the podcast isn't to earn an income or cash off it on something that is already popular, but it can be placed on a category similar to that of a group CMV or art project, as it involves members of a fandom coming together to bring their enthusiasm out in the open. When I think of fans making contributions to their community (art, animation, edits, etc.), I think of it as different wings in a museum being continuously added and expanded. In the case of the idol we all adore, it also gives more material for him to geek out over and share with his friends.

In conclusion, Sanders Sidekicks might not be completely made by experts, nor might it have a lot of episodes by the time this article has been posted, but it still provides enthusiasm within a fan community expressed by voices, which is something plenty of people can be pretty familiar with. After all that has been said, if you want to find more good reasons to invest your time into keeping track of the podcast, then I highly advise you to give it a listen for yourself.
